Valentina Moreau moved through that room as if she had made a private agreement with gravity the rest of us were not allowed to read. Half-Italian, half-French, raised in enough refinement to know exactly how vulgarity worked and too proud to let it stain her. Even there, under those lights, in a dress designed for men who wanted to mistake access for ownership, she never looked cheap.
