This was the fifth negative test in over four months, after all. Yeah, sure, he’d put on a brave face and kiss her, tell her that they’d keep trying. He’d probably crack a joke about how much fun he was having with all the trying – and the whole time, Katie would see the hurt in his hard blue eyes. Hurt that she’d caused by letting him down again. By failing. She sighed, tossed the test in the garbage, then crumpled up some toilet paper and covered the test with it. She didn’t want Adam seeing it later and asking any questions.

I said. “Holy shit! You went for an apology and still got fucked!” bella said. “What?” I asked. “I can't still wrap my head around you been with all five of them, it's crazy,” she said again. “Oh, stop speaking like my grandma, let her live her life however she wants” Jan said, doubling over in laughter. “How you seriously judging me?” I asked. “Girl, everyone is taking. I don't want to talk too much but I think five is really a lot,” bella said.

Sebastian's face turned pale. "Repeat what you just said," he demanded, his voice trembling with disbelief. Caught off guard, Riley hesitated for a moment before responding, "I'm not entirely sure. You should come see for yourself." The phone slipped from Sebastian's hand and dropped to the ground with a clang. He simply stood still in a daze until he received a notification pop-up from his Telegram. He opened the message and saw that it was the craniofacial reconstruction image Riley had sent him.

There's no way I'm telling my best friend his only purpose was to die. Stepping on the brakes, Zeke parked right behind the base. The base itself wasn't too big; it was dim and seemingly old, as if the building was abandoned. A forest encompassed half of the building, and the other half was covered in the night. I looked at Zeke before hopping out of the car and and silently closing the door. As he did the same, I slowly crept up towards the base.

It slows right in front of me, and for a second, I think it’s going to stop. Maybe hitchhiking is a better idea than waiting for a cab. I step toward the street—and then it accelerates. The tire sinks into a puddle, and a mix of water and mud explodes straight at me, ruining my immaculate skirt. “Damn idiot! Are you blind or what?” I shout, furious, trying to see the jerk hiding behind the tinted window. The window rolls down slowly. Shamelessly. A long arm appears first. The sleeve of a black suit fits it perfectly, revealing a small but impossible-to-ignore tattoo on his wrist: a Roman numeral five.

He was off on a film set with Renee. She'd called him, desperate, telling him she felt awful. His response? The same as always. "Wait for me. I'll be back soon." He didn't come back until the fever had already broken. It was always like that. Broken promises, over and over, until all the letdowns blurred together. After one brutal fight, he swore he'd change. Promised he wouldn't leave her for Renee again. She'd given him five chances. This was the fifth.

Chaos! Disaster! Instill fright! Those were the sole purposes of the enemy. But in this case, the enemy was after something, something Violet was after coincidentally. They stood in an empty room, as a circle, with black hoods covering their faces. Not a single one of them could be seen. In the middle of the circle which they formed, stood a crystal ball. One that could aid them monitor movements and even communicate with their boss. As of now, they had just finished monitoring Clara and immediately, everything went dark as silence slowly crept in. Not long after, a voice, deep, husky and scary, could be heard through the ball.
