I’m not sure. Anxious about the continuing clash of Xeno’s corps and the demons, I saw him rip one of the troll’s neck away from its shoulders, sending it shuddering violently down on the concrete floor of the port as it turned into a thick muck and melting like a smoke in the cold, thin air. Xeno looks so vicious in his wolf form and seeing his teeth bared so frighteningly makes me want to run away from this place. I don’t think they need me here though. The way he treats me makes me feel useless to everybody.

Systematic. Unavoidable. Another notification lit his screen. He didn’t even look at me this time. He just read it. And this time— There was no masking it. No control. No deflection. Just— Shock. “What is it?” Xavier asked quietly from behind. Tristan didn’t answer him. His eyes were still on the screen. Fixed. Locked. Like if he looked away— It might become real. “What happened?” I asked. He swallowed once. Then looked up at me.

My eyes move around based on instinct and as if fate is trying to test me, I see the dragon rider book lying on the floor, along with other books that have fallen with his bookshelf. My body tightens. It’s a pretty black colored large book with gold fonts. I had looked for it the other day but Xaden had come in before I could find it. I promised Liam to steal this for him and in return— he would protect my lie. But funny enough, I don’t have a single urge to reach for the book. My attention returns to Xaden limp body. I lower my upper body to his, placing my ear in front of his heart. I can’t hear a single breath. His chest is not moving.

"Tristan! He attacked me! He's gone completely feral!" Tristan stepped forward, his massive frame vibrating with a suppressed, hulking rage. His eyes were wide, glowing that putrid, predatory yellow. "You psychotic animal! I told you to stay in your lane, Xender! I’m going to make sure you never walk out of this territory upright."

Xander quickly took its attention from me as he attacked again. They collided like titans, claw against claw, muscle against magic. Xander was fast, precise, honed through years of combat. But Volthar was stronger—too strong. With a flick of his arm, he hurled Xander into the far wall, cracking it from ceiling to floor. “Xander!” I darted forward, light coursing through my veins. I threw a bolt of raw energy, aiming for Volthar’s chest. It struck. It reeled back, snarling. “Ahhh,” he said with a shiver. “The goddess’s touch. You will be the most delicious to devour…”

My release hit like a tornado, ripping through me “Ahh… ahhh ahhhh… oh God… ahhh…” I screamed, hips bucking against his face. He kept sucking, tongue working me through every wave, drawing it out until I was trembling and gasping

Then he turned sharply, his expression a mix of disbelief and dawning horror even as his face darkened. “Selene,” he said, his voice shaking slightly with rage, “if that demon so much as touches my brother….” He looked like he wanted to break something…or someone. “Xercer does not know about Tristan yet. He can read my mind but I've been trying my hardest to hide it and it has worked so far, but I don't know how long this can work.” I interrupted him. Tibet didn’t answer at first. He turned away again, his breathing ragged, chest rising and falling like he’d just run a marathon. His wolf was close to the surface, I could basically feel it in the air around him.

“Do you want it?” James glanced at Xitlaly. “It’s Whitaker. It’s also Xayvion’s main self. Do you still want it?” Upon hearing that, Xitlaly was shocked. She hid behind Truett. “Xayvion is a cuckoo?” Truett was surprised. “This is hard to believe.” “How’s your recovery?” James asked. Truett and Xitlaly exchanged glances and smiled. “We have recovered half of our abilities. I’m currently in the Yuraeceon Daelm Rank’s First Tribulation,” said Truett.
