Camille says, grabbing her by the wrist. “No!” Wendy shrieks, struggling. Camille yanks her with force. “The plane’s waiting. You want your mother to live? You move.” Wendy sobs but obeys. She ordered as she stood up. Clutching his injured hand, he let himself be yanked to his feet. He walked over to where Elizabeth, Roderigo and Paul stood. The two men looked at the next head of the family and knew they were dead. Maybe not today, but they were dead. Then again, with the coldness in her eyes, they might be dead today. Sophia walked across the room, handing over the nearly empty revolver and accepting another one. Her movements were smooth and fluid. Watching her, you would never know that she had just killed one man and tortured two others.

I could feel a sensation crawl up my neck like invisible fingers brushing too close. “I don’t like this place,” Eden whispered. I didn’t either. Sophia let go of Eden’s hand and walked to a tall stone pillar. It was covered in ancient symbols glowing a bit with red light. She reached out—just her fingers. “Sophia, wait—” I started. Too late. Her hand brushed the stone and her body went limp. Then, she fell to the floor. “SOPHIA!” I screamed, rushing toward her. Eden beat me to her side, cradling her. “Baby stay with me”
