I hear the crack before I feel the pain. It burns across my back, pulling a scream from my mouth.

I had already used the mind link to call fifteen of our core warriors to come and they came right on time. "Do you think that I can't kill you, right now and right here?"I asked Damien who already stood up. "A limp-dick little fuck like you dared to have designs on our mate? you sure have guts." Lincoln said and I nearly spat at his statement. Limp-dick? That was the meanest insult you could say to a man and a werewolf at that. Sure enough, Damien's face changed and he looked as if he had swallowed a fly.

Catherine nimbly approached me with a hateful gaze. Her dislike of me made Catherine seem like she wanted to hurt me as a way to vent her anger. "Catherine..." I looked at her with sad eyes. "You—" "You wench! Seductress!" Catherine cursed. The insult rang clearly in my ears. With clenched fists, she looked ready to strike my face whenever she wanted. But instead Catherine pointed at my face with her long-nailed index finger. "You really are a whore! Gavin was right, you're a slut!"

"Say your piece, then get on your knees where you belong." I turned to face the crowd, my gaze sweeping over the warriors, my lips curling into a wicked smile. "Jericho," I began, my voice sharp as a blade. The room fell silent, a collective gasp echoing at my omission of his title. His face flushed crimson with fury, but I pressed on. "You will pay for insulting my father’s name. You will pay for the humiliation you forced me to endure. You will pay for murdering my warrior, for daring to plot against my pack, and for thinking you could ever control me."

“He called me a kitten. A kitty, Lilly!” I muttered, my voice rising in disbelief. “I am a pure-blood warrior wolf, topper of my class. I could shred a deer in seconds if I wanted to.” Lilly’s yawn stretched wider, as if hinting me to lower my standards about my capabilities. So, I nodded in agreement. “Ok, maybe not right now. But I can. Well, eventually!” Shoving my face into the pillow, I growled, but it didn’t sound like that actual horrifying growl I intended it to be, dropping my heart to my stomach. I groaned in frustration.

I snarled back, "Then tell me, what the hell should I feel when my mate has been screwing around with my maid behind my back? When he tells her he wants a pup from her?" His eyes widened, mouth parting as if to deny it, before he realized it was too late. “You know about that…” Kallias breathed, his voice faltering. “You’re a disgusting piece of shit!” I shout. The words flew out of me before I could stop them but didn’t regret it. His eyes darkening. A low growl I recognize too well rumbled in his chest as his pupils changed color. His wolf had heard my insult and now it was furious.

Smirking, I gave each of them a meaningful smirk as I taunted, “A good warrior questions only what matters on the battlefield and not whispers in the wind like some gossip-addicted teenagers.” Triggered, they stood up, one asking, “What do you mean by that?” I took a bite from the barbeque stick and shook my head, thinking, “As a warrior, shouldn’t they be smarter than this?” I wanted to taunt them further, but I knew better than to act the role Glenda wanted me to be in. One of the warriors in the other group stood up and joined us. He was buff and had tattoos on his arm. He looked straight into me without hesitation or fear, his arrogance vividly reeking on his face.
