Claw’s POV Standing in front of forty to fifty recruits, I observe them with my hands on my waist and a rueful grin on my face. I notice a few imbeciles, twarts, little fuckers. Easy to form into warriors with little time. One of those imbeciles pokes his hand in his nose, taking it into his mouth right after. Real warrior material, these lots. I clear my throat, loud enough to get their attention. “Alright, listen up, mutts!” I bark as I walk in front of them with my arms folded behind my back. “You think you’re wolves? You’re not. You’re puppies who still piss on the floor and cry for mama."

If I wed a high society type, some asshole, I’ll be expected to pop out kids immediately and I could kiss my career good-bye. I continued to stare at my father, then dart my eyes to Leonard who looks smug as hell. “It’s already rigged isn’t it, there’s a certain one you both want me to pick,” I snap, crossing my arms. “No sweetheart, I swear. It will be a fair competition,” my dad replies. I snort at that. “We have made arrangements for Shadow Warriors to oversee security, ensure it is a fair competition and fight. One is a demon and telepath and two are shifters which will supply some muscle,” Leonard says, still with the grin of a liar.

Clayton cursed. “It would seem the team passed, is that correct Rex?” Kent sighed. “Yes sir, the entire team passed but we were hit hard but we all passed so now I believe we only need to face one more trial before we are officially part of the Zerrohnian military?” Rex asked. Kent nodded explaining that even though they all passed the trials there was one more live-fire exercise that would put the entire team against the other candidates. Though this was one more test that they had to overcome before they were officially recognized as a new Clan before they were taken to the Black Citadel Challenge.

I said calmly, holding it up, “represents the law of territory protection, forged during the Northern War when rogue wolves invaded our borders.” Murmurs rippled as I placed it beside the correct plaque. One by one, I matched rune after rune—precise, confident. By the time the last was set, the arena was silent. Clara’s smile was gone. Grandmother Eleanor nodded slowly. “Correct.” Surprise spread. I stepped back, calm, poised. Clara’s eyes darkened. “Fine,” she spat. “Next test.” Warriors brought out wooden spears. Gasps echoed again. Clara gestured to the ring.

The elder lifted a parchment scroll and unrolled it. “These are the tests.” He didn’t read them like a list. He read them like sentences in a judgement. “One: Strength Trial, for both Alpha and Luna. Endurance, combat readiness, and the ability to hold ground under pressure.” My stomach tightened. Ronan leaned in, mouth brushing near my ear, voice only for me. “Don’t panic.” I didn’t respond, because if I did, my voice would betray me. The elder continued. “Two: Command and Organisation Trial, for both Alpha and Luna. Strategy, delegation, crisis planning, and resource distribution.”

I stated. "You will help me? Can you even fight?" She scrunched her nose, eyeing me up and down. "Ouch" Jia whispered. She knows my mate is insulting me, but I can't do anything about it. What she thinks? Am I a small kid? I can't fight? She doesn't know who I am. "Don't worry my people will help you we have the huge number of strong Warriors capable of taking down a huge army." Alpha said proudly.

“Ms. Tanis does her best, but they don’t want us learning the truth. It seems like the principal wants us to all join in and torment Kat. That’s not right. It isn’t her fault she doesn’t have a shifting form.” Uncle Monty patted my head. “I’m glad I raised the two of you to be leaders. Rei, you’ll most likely join the lion clan, but Ari, you’ll be with us tigers. Both cats are regal and forthcoming. We are top of the hierarchy when it comes to predators.” Aunt Lavender came in at that moment. “I see my three loves are getting along. I take it you gave them the riot act for what they said to Celia?”

Major clans did take a lot of the resources, but that was so that they could give excellent warriors the chance to become strong. Every year, countless warriors participated in the tests to join the major clans. Any warriors with confidence in themselves would take part. Even though he did not know what Marco had gone through, Trevor was still incredibly certain of one thing: Marco had definitely taken part in the tests for major clans before but failed. That was why Marco had carved out all those excuses to save his dignity. Marco's expression soured greatly. Trevor's words had hit him where it hurt. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he sentenced Trevor to death in his heart.

It felt as if Catherine had left with all the peace and joy we had. My life felt empty, and I was tired of Mary challenging me. She made things difficult and didn’t want to respect me as her Alpha. It was exhausting trying to make her see things my way when she always wanted things to be her way. “You should be ready to apologize to Darius,” I replied, exhaling deeply. “We shall see,” she muttered under her breath. I looked forward as the head councilor blew his horn to announce the commencement of the tests. The tests were ancient. They were done only in wolf form, and only on nights or mornings when the Moon Goddess’s power was strong.

Alpha King Zed looked in my direction with his eyes challenging me as he spoke. "Let me say the rules of the test, there will be no time limit as long as you all are still standing. I only need one strong and reliable lead warrior so you can fight using your wolf form or your human form but I want to see how brave you are to defend yourself at all times! Being the lead warrior is a position next to Beta Osuof! Remember that if Beta Osuof steps down from his position, the lead warriors can take the test to be his replacement. That's why it won't be easy to get the lead warrior position! Understand?"
