From the battlements, dozens of eyes stared down at them — glowing red, orange, gold. Timberwolves, bred in fire, trained for war. They were leaner than northern wolves, more agile, and infused with flame-born essence.
A figure emerged from the top of the gatehouse. Clad in armor shaped like a phoenix’s wings, her hair was a cascade of molten copper, braided and tied with ashwood beads. Her voice, when it rang out, carried power and bitterness in equal measure.
