The Collar Told the Truth

The Collar Told the Truth

I laughed with a face full of scorn. That was my own mother. To get me to give her money, to fight over a house for her other child, she stooped so low. Dish soap and water? She sure did not want to risk her life! I straightened my shirt and walked toward Edmund and Aunt Carol. "So, you all teamed up to put on this act and trick me out of my money? "Aunt Carol, Uncle Gary, you were in on this, too? "You knew she was faking and still called me, trying to make me give in with everyone watching, didn't you?"

They Called Me a Coward, Then the Mountain Came Down

They Called Me a Coward, Then the Mountain Came Down

The sales department organized a team-building trip and turned it into a killer-instinct trail race, with a $30,000 prize for the winner. I volunteer with a search and rescue team, and I stayed up all night mapping the safest route with supply points along the way. The new VP they had parachuted in tore up my map right before we set out. "What's the fun in a paved trail? We take the undeveloped Wildman Gorge. That's how you show real killer instinct! "To keep anyone from cheating with GPS, everyone hands over their communication devices." I pointed at the thunderheads on the horizon and tried to stop him. Wildman Gorge floods easily, and going in without radios was suicide. Instead, he smash

Warrior of the Way

Warrior of the Way

Rhychard canceled too many appointments to make him a reliable business. The Warrior popped the lid off his coffee to let it cool a bit as he watched a young yuppie walking his little Pomeranian. Not a man's dog by any sense of the word, but then again, he lived with a canine the size of a horse. Of course, Kree would sniff his nose at being compared to a dog. I am a coshey. Can dogs talk? No. They merely do pathetic tricks to please their owners and wag their tails. Most just lie around eating and defecating on the carpet. Then he would ask if they were going to get pizza that night for dinner. Rhychard didn't care what Kree said; he was an overgrown watchdog sent to babysit the human Warri

Mated to the Alpha CEO

Mated to the Alpha CEO

Carved into its trunk were the words: THE FIRST LESSON. An old wolf was teaching a group of pups. She was grey-muzzled and slow, but her eyes were bright, and her voice carried the weight of authority. "Courage is not the absence of fear," she said. "Courage is fear that has decided to keep walking." The pups listened with rapt attention. One of them, a dark-furred female with a silver streak on her brow, raised her paw to ask a question.

Captured by the Demon King

Captured by the Demon King

I was stupid for letting her drink too much, but maybe it saved me today. "She didn't seem THAT drunk." Micah pondered. I snapped my head up to his. "Well, I thought you weren't THAT stupid, but here we are. Not a word about this to her." A loud bark made me turn around. "Hey buddy." I said to Warrior. I never named the dog but Warrior suited him. He wasn't allowed inside the castle, and was probably missing his female owner. "Shall we go for a ride with our human?" I asked the dog, who barked again, and then turned around to the castle. He looked back at me and barked again. I frowned at the dog. He was signalling me. I followed the dog around, waved Micah off and walked around the castle,

To Avenge My Ex, I Married A Tycoon

To Avenge My Ex, I Married A Tycoon

Nathan recalled Hilda having told him about a dog she kept when she was living with the Adams family. Nathan went on for a while with the story. "You kept the dog with you for many years until it passed away of old age." However, the truth was that, Carmen once bullied her and the dog bit her so hard that it tore off a chunk of her flesh. After that, the dog was beaten to death. Of course, Nathan would never tell her about the grueling parts, as it would be better to allow her to assume that her dog simply died of old age. The dog was her only friend who got killed for protecting her.

CEO's Dog

CEO's Dog

"I swear I won't! I'm a dog—dogs don't get jealous. Dogs don't ask questions about the past. Just look at me, Master. Please, just look at me." Cassian stood motionless for a long moment, allowing the sound of my ragged gasps to fill the quiet hall. Then, slowly, a faint, dangerous tilt appeared at the edge of his lips. "Do you really believe you're a dog?" he asked quietly, the question laced with a subtle, dark fascination. I looked up immediately, my eyes wide and pleading, desperate to give him the answer he wanted. "Yes, Master. Yes, I am." Cassian smirked, a cold, mocking expression that sent a shiver straight down my spine. "Then why are you wearing clothes?"

Caged Like a Dog for Her True Love

Caged Like a Dog for Her True Love

In a hoarse voice, she shouted, "Christopher, after Mom and Dad died, we've only had each other in this world. "If you're upset about anything, just tell me. As long as you're safe, I wouldn't even mind giving up my life!" But no matter how long they shouted, there was no reply. Little by little, hopelessness set in for them. Just then, a crocodile crawled out of the water beside them. Something between its teeth caught Heather's eye. She looked at it intently. "Claire, is that Christopher's shoe?" Ignoring the danger, Heather rushed toward the crocodile and snatched the shoe from its jaws. As she tried to retreat, the crocodile bit down on her leg.

My UNFATED Mate

My UNFATED Mate

Luc replies, laughing, "Cinthia was the best I got. And she told me her whole life in fifteen minutes, I can't believe it was you who kidnapped her dog." "She started spreading truths about me that I didn't want people to know," I say, starting to trot even slower, "The dog didn't suffer, I gave it away to an aunt." Luc laughs and starts to say something, but he gets almost immediately interrupted by a body that intrudes between the two of us with such force that it pushes me forward and causes me to fall to my knees and then face down on the ground because my body is like a noodle with no strength, apparently. I groan with a mouthful of dust and lie motionless on the floor.
