I looked away as my lips curled into a slight smile.
Then, just as I was letting my own eyes rest, the camera panned to a reflection in the mirror. A woman’s face. Pale skin, hollow eyes, black hair slick with something wet. Her mouth stretched wider and wider until it cracked at the cheeks, revealing jagged teeth and a gurgling scream.
Even I jolted a little.
I turned my head towards Ajax.
He hadn’t made a sound, but I caught it—his breath hitched. Barely a second, but there. His eyes flickered toward the screen and then away, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed. A vein in his neck twitched.
