Someone opened the door and dragged me out again. My legs barely held my weight. We entered a building. The air smelled dusty. Old. Like a warehouse. They shoved me into a chair and tied my hands behind it. Then the footsteps moved away. Silence. My head slowly cleared. I lifted my eyes. And saw a figure standing in the shadows. Tall. Still. Not even a single word if not just the tears that I could not pull back and the sound of their laughter filling the space around me. "Or…" Steph tilted her head, a smile still sitting easily on her face. I think she was nowhere near done and she was never done until she decided she was. "Is your late dad homo like you? And burning in hell for all we care?" The laughter spiked again behind her. I watched her fingers move around the photo slowly and deliberately. The specific kind of slowness meant she wanted me to see exactly what was coming with enough time to feel it fully before it happened.
