The place where I thought I belonged but ended up getting betrayed. I haven’t crossed yet. I watched their silhouette heading in my direction and when their faces became clear I uttered the words I never thought I would say. “I, Arabella Hale, sever my ties with Blood Fang Pack. I renounce my place as your Luna…” I paused turning to Adrian whose looking at me with his blazing eyes, “and as your wife, Alpha Adrian Voss,” I didn’t wait for a response. I didn’t even dare to read their reaction. I run as fast as I can without any direction in my mind.

“I just need a minute…” “As you can see, I am busy,” she interrupted, straightening her chair. Her eyes were sharp and wary. Just then, the door burst open, and a blond walked in, accompanied by a little girl. My attention snagged on the child first, assuming that she was the lady's, but as the child turned toward me, my heart stopped. “Mummy!” she yelped and ran toward Elara. She had dark eyes, the same sharp curve of the jaw, a faint dimple in the left cheek. Not even the hair down her back could hide the glaringly undeniable truth. She was mine..

Elias told him. Quinn grunted. Every time he thought about that girl he just got more pissed off. “You’re going about it the wrong way…” Chase said then. “What do you mean?” Quinn asked him. “It’s just like with chics. You can’t chase them… they’ll run away. Same idea applies here. You’re chasing your brother and he’s just getting further and further away. You need lure him in… make him come to you.” Quinn thought about that for a minute. And Chase was right. Why hadn’t he thought of that? But how would he do that… he’d have to set a trap. And there was no way in hell Em was going to be the bait. And that’s who he wanted.

Something catches my eye, and I turn back quickly. His big toe. Did I just imagine his toe moving? I wait patiently for it to move again, but there is nothing, and I slump back in frustration. Richard! I want to scream. It's almost a month already. Please get up. My courage, my hope, my excitement, my determination, my strength, and my resolve are beginning to fade off with each passing moment. Please. When it moves again, I jerk upright. And again. “Richard!” I scream, unable to hold myself back with the gush of adrenaline streaming down my spine. “Richard.”

The impending war was a storm on the horizon, and Chastity was poised to lead her pack through its tumultuous winds. Chastity moved through the corridors of the Red Moon Pack's territory with a heavy heart, yet a flicker of hope burned within her. The scent of pine and earth enveloped her as she made her way to the heart of the pack—their gathering place. The air was charged with anticipation, a reflection of the imminent war they faced.

It’s impossible not to notice even my mates somewhat gawking. When Meadow returns, she’s already got the chapter open that she thinks may help. “Here, the last known pack to promise true safe haven for red wolves. Cherry Run… it’s in Canada. Extremely remote, they have an agreement with some witches for teleporting out quickly in the event of an emergency. Pretty smart,” she says, pointing. Rowan maneuvers around his hands, and conjures up Skip’s journal. We compare the maps and instantly realize there’s a match. “Well there’s a chance dad could be there, or they might know where he is… mom though… I doubt she would be welcome,” I say, trailing off. Hope makes a face as do I.

I ride every Sunday morning; rain, snow, black plague, it doesn't matter to me. My backpack is heavy. It's full of a change of clothes I will need for later. A red apple falls to the ground and rolls to my feet. Who could be here this early? Certainly not Aunt Tara. "Who's there?" I say as I hear a barn owl hoot in the stable. "It's me, Natalie," Chad says, coming out from behind a door. "What the hell? Are you stalking me?" I ask. "Well, I need to know if you're coming tonight. Are you in?" Chad asks.

"Stop your men or you won't get out of here alive." "I'm Chase Erickson. Alpha of the Red Valley pack. I listen to no one." "You should listen while I'm still being patient." "It's long overdue, Zeke. Let's cut to the chase." He growls. "I'll be cutting more than the chase in the next few minutes. I like your throat. It needs cutting." "Be my guest!" My wolf takes over. I crack my neck and shift at the instant. Chase flexes his arms at his side. His talons flesh out and shifts like I have done. Two powerful red eyes stare down each other. Chase attacks first.

Chase refused to show his face. I texted him to stop lurking and come out already. He only laughed it off, said he wasn't going to do that, that the whole fun was in the mystery, and told me to just go home. I climbed into Nicholas's passenger seat, and the back-and-forth rolled on the whole drive. Chase made himself my LA guide, starting with a whole field manual on spotting the fuckboys out here, the gait, the lean, the way they materialize the moment a new girl lands.
