Nathaniel’s POV Cooped up alone in the mansion had bored me to death, so I had finally decided to head to Malik's study to read. It was a risk, and I wasn't entirely sure if I was even allowed in here, but the heavy leather-bound books on rare herbs and soil had pulled me in completely. I just didn't know when I fell asleep. The heavy oak door opened, and the sudden shift in the room's atmosphere woke me. I was curled up completely sideways in Malik’s massive, oversized leather armchair, my knees tucked to my chin.

Did I or did I not want her to get caught? I was still in a state of confusion when Denmark grabbed my hand and led me to the Tavern, “The waiter informed me that Hera had booked a room two days ago.”

She could have sat there for days, reading and discovering the secrets they kept. "My grandmother was a collector." Not just from the heating or the faint scent of coffee, but from the atmosphere. Posters lined the walls, famous queer authors, quotes about love, resilience, self-discovery. The shelves were stacked with books I'd only ever read in secret, books I’d hidden like contraband. People looked lively, laughing and chatting.
