"No, I left her with mom and dad tonight. One free evening!" Wendy gave a huge grin. "Yippee! Oh, wow! Is this Heidi?" Heidi blushed and hid behind Sarah's leg. Wendy crouched down. "You won't remember me sweetie. Last time I saw you, you were this big." She held her hands about twenty inches apart.

Wendy's dream went on for quite a while. In her dream, she saw a little girl about Aster's age. The girl wore a beautiful floral dress and had short, silky, chestnut-colored hair. The girl gazed at her with big eyes and called her "Mommy" sweetly. Wendy was really happy. She hurried over, wanting to hug and kiss the little girl. But just before she could touch the girl, the girl vanished, as if she had never been there before. Wendy went mad. She spun around to find the girl. The surroundings were vast.

My corpse was right there in front of him, and yet he ignored it. I couldn’t tell if his refusal to acknowledge the truth came from fear or a desperate need to maintain the illusion that I would eventually apologize to Wendy. Watching the three of them so close together, a sudden realization hit me—Wendy was already eighteen. And yet, there he was, being so intimate with his adoptive daughter. Tsk. Somehow, I wasn’t surprised. Ian’s hand rested casually around Wendy’s waist. He wasn’t a child anymore; my brother was already starting high school.

“Please don’t tell me he’s a kid! Don’t say it, don’t say it~” Wendy looked at Gina, amused and exasperated. What was she thinking? “He’s two years older than me.” “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!
