I asked, my lips quivering with suspicion dancing in my belly but he didn't respond. “ No need for you to know that's my pretty little secret,” he said, his deep voice barely audible. “ Hey, let me double-check something, “ he whispered, turning towards the window, pulling the curtains aside for a clearer view. He glanced outside the window and saw the moon shining brightly. “ Holy shit, it's a full moon,” he declared. Tonight was a full moon, the day werewolves yearn for blood, and most times, they went into mating heat, craving the touch of their destined one.

My wolf howled into the night, a mournful cry that spoke of longing and frustration. I slowed my pace, coming to a stop near a small clearing. The moon hung high in the sky, its silver light casting an ethereal glow over the landscape. I sat on my haunches, staring up at it, seeking guidance from the celestial orb that had watched over werewolves for centuries.

As some gentle rays of moonlight seemed to show him the road he usually took to patrol, suddenly, a smell made him stop on his track. A gentle breeze blew, chasing away the dark clouds trying to hide the full moon. The soothing light revealed the majestic figure. A massive wolf was there, and his fur was as dark as night with a silver crescent turned downward on his forehead. Fiery red eyes seemed to glaze at the moon, silently asking the round celestial body if that smell was a dream or not.

Until now, he couldn't even move a single finger. He raised his sad eyes, looking at the moonlight outside the window. Suddenly, Adam's body shook violently. Today is another full moon night. His body is extremely sensitive to moonlight. If it was a normal time, the people in the village would absolutely not let him see the moonlight so easily. But a few days ago, he heard someone talking in the village. They say that the witches have come to the village. They are werewolf hunters, extremely skilled hunters. Their fangs and claws glistened in the dark. The moon disappeared behind a blanket of dark clouds before he would determine whether to run or fight. He swallowed a lump in his throat when the largest amongst the werewolves started moving towards him. The beastly creatures’ eyes were fixed on him and were ready to devour him. As his fate was about to be decided, a feminine figure leaped out from an almond tree. Immediately, the sky roared with thunder and the fallen leaves rustled in the howling wind.

The pack members scattered, their faces etched with fear, their eyes wide with horror. In the center of the clearing, a monstrous figure loomed, its dark form shifting and growing. Moonlight cast an eerie glow on the creature, revealing its thick black fur, its piercing yellow eyes, and its gnashing teeth. It was Draven, mid-transformation, his human form battling the wolf within.

His eyes never left mine, as if I was the most cherished treasure in his world. Suddenly, a rush of anxious footsteps echoed through the area. Both Louie and I tensed up, our senses on high alert. Louie's low growl reverberated through the air, a clear warning to whoever was approaching. I stood by his side, my heart pounding, unsure of who or what we were about to encounter. Through the darkness, several figures emerged, and as the moonlight illuminated their faces, my breath caught in my throat—they were all fully armed werewolves, each carrying weapons in their hands. The glint of silver and steel reflected the moonlight, signifying their readiness for battle.

Four white paws padded softly along the water’s edge, and the young werewolf was being extremely careful not to actually get his feet wet. Being a wolf was new to him, but he was determined not to let that show. He bent to lap gently from the water just as the full moon crested over the waterfall. The jet black fur on his head and back gleamed brightly as the moon rose high enough that her light slipped over the falls to illuminate the pool of water and the whole werewolf family at the bottom of it. The young wolf looked up at the moon, blinking his heterochromatic eyes, first the blue one and then the brown before he howled his greeting to the goddess.
