What Books Did C.s Lewis Write Novels & Stories

“Which is it?” I smiled and turned back to him. “Both of them,” I beamed, maybe because he didn’t turn out mad at me… but I was still curious why he had been looking worried all morning. Maybe I shouldn’t ask. “C. Lewis.” I turned back to him. “What?” He glanced at me. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I shook my head. Oh, I knew who C. Lewis was. What I didn’t know was who was seated in front of me.

“Only because it’s an emergency.” Elmo rubbed his eyes, and blinked away fatigue. As his vision cleared he found himself looking at Lucas’ bookshelf, and his heart sank as he surveyed the spines of books his friend loved so much. There were copies of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators and The Secret Seven, as well as modern mystery thrillers by authors such as Lee Child and James Patterson. But there were also older novels that Elmo recalled as movies on TCM but had never read. He saw Treasure Island and Ivanhoe, Tom Sawyer and Robinson Crusoe.

Ever since he came home and started at Colossus Group, he had not spent many nights at the Hoffmans', so he had not realized they had kept the room's old charm. Noelle let go of Charles's hand and dashed to the bookshelf, taking a quick look. "Whoa, you've got the whole Game of Thrones series here! Were you into it? ‘The Tales of Robin Hood', ' Anglo-Saxon Chronicle', some random essays, 'A Brief History of Time'... Charles, you've got a ton of books!" Charles gave the shelf a quick glance and narrowed his eyes a bit. "It’s just for show," he said nonchalantly.

The Little Mermaid popped out at me, as did The Emperor's New Clothes, but I thought maybe a story that people are foolish in public wouldn’t be the best choice. Then I looked around some more and picked up Floca’s Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11, Lewis’s The Wolf, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Dahl’s Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and a few others. I paused at the Harry Potter series, but while the girls were old enough, being werewolves, for the story, I knew the sizes of the books would put them off. Next year, I thought. They’d have handled textbooks by then and wouldn’t be so rapidly opposed to books an inch thick or more.

Both the lizardmen tribes relied on claws and teeth, and the jabberwocky just ate you whole. “A couple of archers and we could wipe them all out.” “Yes,” I said, “but unfortunately our best shot is down there like Aslan about to get a haircut.” Maurice screwed up his nose. “Please don’t mention that hack in my presence.” There are any number of writers you might dismiss as hacks, churning out shitty novels one after the other, but I wouldn’t have put children’s favourite C.S. Lewis among them. “I thought you would’ve liked Lion-Witch-Wardrobe.”

Lex was perplexed, a book? Lex drew the drawer compartment out completely. Books. He picked one of them. THE DAVINCI CODE. He skimmed through, his eyes twinkled at this new found discovery. Books. He picked another. THE GREEK MYTHOLOGY. Lex's senses were tingling. Hurriedly, he picked up five books, replaced the drawer compartment and went to his room. If mum asks what happened to the door, I'd tell her it was burglars. * * *

* * * * * "... while he was still chewing away, the first dwarf came back and announced that the sledge was ready. The White Witch rose and went out, ordering Edmund to go with her. The snow was again falling as they came into the courtyard, but she took no notice of that and made Edmund sit beside her on the sledge ..." Lucas had been sitting in his chair for over an hour while Bobby read to his grandmother from his favorite childhood books. It was a ritual by now. Every day, for half a day, they would sit by her side, and Bobby would read her the stories she had once read to him. This was a special one. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

"Did they not have many books at your old school? At all? Not just the library, but in class?" Equally dumbly, she shakes her head. "Very well. Suppose I suggest some that you might like. You may try them and then we can take it from there...." She brightens, cheeks dimpling. ".... Let us see...." He stoops, holding the small of his back as he does so. "This story is always popular." He slips a volume from the lower shelves, passing it to her. "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Have you ever read it?"
