Chapter 89: Selene's POV The world exploded into chaos around me. Wolves snarled and snapped, their bodies blurring as they fought. Blood splattered the ancient stones, turning the sacred ground into a battlefield. The Queen of Shadows stood in the center of it all, her dark power spreading like poison. My hands trembled as silver light poured from them, creating a shield between our packs and the worst of her attacks. But I was weakening. Each blast of power drained more of my strength, and the markings on my skin were starting to fade.

I crumpled to the floor, shaking. “Wait!” he barked, storming after her, footsteps pounding down the hall. The room went still. Shards of glass glittered around me. My chest heaved as I stared at the door, knowing exactly what her mistake meant. Whoever that maid was, she’d seen too much. And if Elena was right—if Marcelo really was the man I suppose she claimed—then it was already over for her. Most importantly, over for me.

Hashem was slowly getting to his feet and I turned to face him. “You are a traitor and you will die a coward’s death,” I said, in a whisper but loud enough for him to hear. I reached for my shard as he lunged toward me with a piece of glass. I was just barely able to move and he tried again to swipe at me, this time he connected and got my side. FUCK! I was going to pass out soon, it was too much. Blood, there was blood everywhere. The yelling, the voices and the footsteps were everywhere now, close and I heard the voices yelling in English.

All she cared about was getting to the throne by any means possible. They led me to the end of the ballroom, near a wall. Then the Queen raised her hand and began moving it in a circular motion while chanting something in a language I couldn’t quite understand. Soon a small blue circle formed on the wall, made completely of light and then it expanded slowly with each swirl of her hand, before the circle was the large enough that an entire person could fit through it. The house looked old from the outside, but the inside is the true definition of a palace. I made sure no one suspected it was my secret house while building it. I took Amelia in quietly and laid her on my sofa before rushing into my spiritual room to bring out some spiritual stones. I tried to revive her with the spiritual stones, but it just wasn't working. I checked her pulse and realized she was almost gone. If I don't act quickly, she might die any moment from now. I hurriedly rushed her into my spiritual room and buried her inside the ashes before covering her body with dark clothes.

A cold wind swept through the palace, and shadows appeared—hundreds of them, monsters born from darkness, the Shadow Wolf's servants. Elara immediately pushed Lyssandra behind her. "Take the baby." The Shadow Queen was dead. But her seeds remained. And I would burn them all before I let them bloom.
