“ Your ears! They’re… they’re pointed!” The man arched an eyebrow, exchanging a look with Elara. She seemed caught between amusement and concern. “ Ah,” Elara said softly, touching the tip of her ear as if realizing what had startled me. “ You mean these?” “ Yes!” I said, still staring. “ People don’t— we don’t have ears like that.” The man tilted his head, studying me as though I were the strange one here. “You don’t?” His voice was deep, smooth, with a tone that carried quiet strength.

It made him want to scream, but his voice caught in his throat. The thing that caught his attention was a good many years older than him, a pre-teen at least. It-she- had wild brunette hair and pale skin and green eyes. But she, whatever she was, wasn't human. Her ears, for one, were pointed and placed higher on her head. Her lower jaw jutted out, dog-like teeth replacing human teeth. Her arms hung limp at her sides, hands taking on a grotesque hand/paw look with claws. She even had a long, skinny tail.

The pointed wolf ears that stood up on top of my head was quite a familiar sight that I had seen before on Prince Leonard, but I never imagined that one day I would have the same feature because I wasn't a wolf. At least, I wasn't supposed to be one... “This can't be. I am not a wolf…” I mumbled softly as I hesitantly reached up my hand toward the ears on top of my head. “Normal humans don't grow wolf ears on top of their heads, Mila…” the prince said before he grinned mischievously at me.

All that I see is my five-year-old self, just with different hair color and… and… Ears and tail. When I look at the mirror like this, all I can see is my mystical ears and tail. I look like a cosplayer, but believe it or not, this is actually real. My ears looked like that of a fox, and my tail too. My hair turned gray, matching the color of my eyes. Even the ears and tail that I’ve grown was of the same color. I don’t know if I’m dreaming or not, but several days had already passed.

I don’t see any pointy ears either. Whatever that thing was, it had slowed down but was still making its way towards me. As it got out of the mist and came closer, I got a better view of what it was, Holy cow… Subconsciously, my arms lowered as my mouth hung open. What the hell? The thing that was now a few meters away from me wasn’t an animal and I got my answer as to why it had no pointy ears or a tail. That’s because it was a person.

I tried to shout in fear, but my voice died in my throat when I heard ‘Grrrhhh. I kept staring at those eyes. There was definitely an animal in my room, and definitely a big animal. I assumed by observing how those eyes were distinctly almond-shaped eyes that tend to be more closely set on the face and were slanted, with the corners of the eyes lining up with the outer base of the ears. But how the hell did any animal enter my room? Was Rebecca fine? I wondered. “See, I might have so much fat in my body, but I’m not at all tasty.” I talked to that animal.

I chastise myself for leaving him to fend for himself and bang my head against my door. “Do you have a twin?” “Excuse me?” I ask, as I open my eyes to Dante’s furrowed brows and questioning gaze as he scrutinizes my appearance. It was ridiculous how he could call me something so simple and make it sound dirty. I let him lead me back up the stairs, our steps echoing in the silence of the house.
