Screams tore through the B2 level. Martha and I bolted for the stairs. Marcus stumbled behind. The smell of blood hit us like a wall. In the makeshift chapel, Sister Catherine was on her knees before the cross. A bloody hole gaped in her neck. A zombie was hunched over her, greedily tearing at her flesh. It had crawled in through an air vent. “Oh God…” Marcus retched. I grabbed a nearby iron chalice and slammed it into the zombie’s head.

By the end of a fortnight, the compound had another twenty recovered zombies joining their cause. Kendra and Rex were kept busy hunting to keep food on the table. Eddie proved to be an adept hunter. He also was wise to the areas that the zombies favored. They took advantage of both of these things whenever possible.

Somehow it got into the water, or something, but they’re also wandering the town, biting people, and people who get bit, turn into them… Zombies, Rhett is calling them. "Shit!” I cursed. I kicked it with my other leg, but the stubborn thing won't bulge. I kept kicking it while struggling to hold the one over me, off. I don't wanna be zombie meal, not now. I felt someone yank the infected on my boot away and then something heavy hitting the other one from off me. It was Joe, he finished off the infected with the wrench he was holding and then stretched his hand to help me up. That was when I realized that the vehicle is now working.

There was something about him that made Jasper think that he just might be able to help him like once things settled down. If his information was correct, unlike the vampires and werewolves, the zombies weren’t sent from another dimension. They were humans whose humanity went bad. If Jasper was correct, zombiesm was caused by a virus of some type. If there was one thing that he was certain of it was that all viruses had a cure. He just needed time to find it.

It was surrounded by those 'walkers', stumbling around like they were in a trance. "What are they?" He breathed out, staring in disbelief. He chugged some water, letting out a sigh of hydrated relief. "They call them walkers." She pointed the screen down slightly to allow him to see easier and switched to the website she was reading. "There's information on them, finally." As Adam read, she watched his expression change from confused to terrified. "This is like an actual zombie movie." He spluttered, barely able to get his words out. Behind them, a stirring caught their attention.

I looked at the window and saw that the trashy people struggled to maintain the blocked door and the zombies that they are talking about. These zombies are infected. It all started at the gates, having a crack, and the small monsters escape from it. Then, here comes the infection, as always, the infection occurs when bitten or just a scratch. But these infected, as I said earlier are just petty monsters. What's wrong with them? It's almost 15 minutes and they still did not clean the mess that I made.

My body had even started rotting away. The news spread through the entire base as swiftly as the zombie virus had overtaken the humans. Mom and Dad kneeled in front of my grave. "We were wrong, Brielle… W-We just wanted to protect Beckett…" Mom said, her voice weak. "He was the hope for all humanity… We had no choice…" Listening to her feeble excuses, I felt utterly repulsed. Meanwhile, my death was the spark that ignited the fury of all the other survivors in the base.
