“Are you ready?” “On my way,” I shout back, giving Kitten a stroke on the head and grabbing my bum bag and slinging it around my chest. I’ve got an audiobook playing and want to hear the end, I’m so close and it’s a psychological thriller and I just know there will be an end plot twist. “Hey Mom, how was your morning?”

The air was thick with the scent of old books and dust, and I could hear the sound of someone shuffling papers in the next room. "Hello?" I called out tentatively, my voice echoing through the empty halls. "Ah, there you are," came a deep voice from the other room. "I've been expecting you." I looked around but I didn't see the person I felt a jolt of surprise. How could he have been expecting me? I had come here on a whim, without telling anyone where I was going. As I made my way through the labyrinthine corridors, I caught glimpses of strange and wondrous things - a portrait of a woman with eyes that seemed to follow me, a suit of armor that glinted in the candlelight, a book with a cover

I whispered softly, trying to maintain a sense of decorum despite the excitement building inside me. He glanced at me, his gaze lingering for a moment, his eyes searching mine. Then, he turned back to the book, clearing his throat. "Once upon a time, in a land far away..." His rich, velvety voice began to narrate, and I leaned in, hanging on to his every word as he flipped the pages. I was obsessed with the sound of his voice, the way it seemed to wrap around me like a warm blanket. "...And they lived happily ever after. The end." He finished, closing the book with a gentle thud. My mouth was still open in awe, my body buzzing with excitement.

The title of the book, with its light blue hardcover and beautiful illustrations, made me stare at it for a long time. My hand moved to my belly unconsciously. For some reason, that title felt too personal... “Little bear...” I murmured softly. “Do you love Mama the most too?” I had read somewhere that babies could hear voices while still inside the womb. If you read to them, it would be beneficial. A small smile appeared on my face. “Let’s read about the little bear... and should we get some other books too?” I whispered. Then I walked inside. Entering the bookstore felt like entering a whole new world.

That makes more sense, a book a day has been her speed when we have days like this. "Got number five lined up?" I ask her as she leans forward and digs into the large bag she has sitting beside her table. "Figured one of us should get a jump on things" She announces proudly as she digs out a large book and holds it up to show me: 'What to Expect When You're Expecting'

i can learn so much from reading it. In the middle of drowning in my book I felt a presence opposite me and heard the sound of chair screeching and within a half minute I heard a rough male voice " Hey there! iam watching you from the last one hour reading that book without moving.so,I came here to check that you are dead or so" He said laughter in his voice.

The only thing she wanted to do right now was just to…. Her thoughts were interrupted when Nathan whispered her name and she jolted back to reality. “Aren’t you gonna read to me again?” Just then, the sound of thunder resonated in their ears and his lips curved into a smile. “Even the heavens want to hear your story, Nessa” Gulping, Audrey threw open the book and began to read…..

Walking through the doors, I hear the shower running, but the door is closed and music blares from the other side. I pop in my earbuds, hoping to drown out the music with an audio book. I typically prefer reading physical copies myself, but given the circumstances, I would hardly be able to focus on the words. I've read entire books and not remembered a single thing as the words blended together in my mind. Laying back, I hold the bowl of fruit to my chest as words fill my ears, but I’m not paying attention to what they’re saying. Just a string of sounds filling my head in an attempt to drown out the sound of my own thoughts.

Relief spread through me so fast I almost laughed.
