Married by Fate, Broken by Love
Our relationship had begun as something temporary, convenient, almost strategic.
But somewhere between the careful conversations, the quiet moments, and the way he always seemed to notice when I was overwhelmed, something had shifted. I took another breath.
“I think it happened when I realized he never lets people face things alone,” I said quietly.
The older man’s gaze sharpened.
“Explain.”
I leaned forward slightly, resting my hands on the edge of the table.
“He may not say much,” I said, choosing each word carefully, “but he notices things. Small things. When someone is uncomfortable. When someone is trying to pretend they’re fine when they’re not.”
