“I’ll walk you to the door.” Guy stood and I stood next to him. After gathering my stuff, we made the awkward walk to the door, the silence more conspicuous after the conversation earlier.
“I’m looking forward to working with you,” Guy offered, and there was a hint of warmth to his expression that hadn’t been there earlier.
I smiled, even though it was awkward, because that was what I’d been taught. “Same.”
When Guy leaned in for a hug, I allowed it, closing my eyes when he lingered for a few seconds. I felt nothing. No electric zaps, no jolts, no chemistry. Nothing like what I felt after even a few seconds in Ajax’s presence.
