For if the truth gets out it will be fatal and disastrous for me. As each day passes, the day of Kane’s judgement draws near and the thought of what can and might possibly go wrong weighs over my shoulders. It looms over me like a storm cloud that has refused to break. And sadly, there's no silver lining in sight. Perhaps, this should have been a sign that I unknowingly clunged to self deception. Eery sunrise felt like a countdown; every sunset felt like a warning that time was slipping through my fingers, further cementing those growing fears.

When I finally do, her eyes are already on me. And there it is again…..that fire. It's not gone nor defeated, just recalibrating. God. She doesn’t lose easily. Neither do I. The judge leans forward and folds his hands. “It's now time for judgement and final verdict,” he says. And just like that, the room holds its breath. And this time, everything feels like it could break.

Chapter One Unknown POV It all began the day the judge delivered his final verdict. The gavel came down like thunder, sealing my fate. “Ten years imprisonment,” he said. Ten years. My whole world came crashing down. I was only seventeen. Seventeen and my life was already over.

The blue eyed man fretted bringing a smile to my parched lips. I shook my head. "What was that?" "It's the dead who are calling out to him." Will's grip on my shoulder involuntarily tighten before he pats the bone in apology. "Our Lord is the supreme judge, and every soul has to go through his court, but not all of these souls have had peaceful endings and many have regrets they cannot forget and from time to time while they wait their turn to be judged they protest and incidents like these occur." "It seems like a difficult job." I say soothing the headache that had brewed. "Yes it is." Will says, his ocean eyes looking to the past I could not see.

Austin said carefully. Elder Sarah nodded. "You have forty-eight hours. The tribunal will be held whether you attend or not. If you fail to appear, judgment will be made in your absence." As the three representatives prepared to leave, Gamma Thomas paused and looked directly at Austin. "Alpha Austin, may I speak plainly?" "Go ahead." The older man glanced around to make sure they wouldn't be overheard, then lowered his voice.

I wake up every morning and the fire intensifies each passing day and no matter how hot it is I don’t seem to at least perish and die. If you think it's a mistake just like he claimed and think his mate should not be taken away from him, then you have to write your judgement and put it in this box.” he pointed at the judgement box aside the hall. “Drop your judgement, and it will be counted.” he said, while everyone nodded their heads in agreement. I inhaled deeply as I watched other alphas casting their judgement in the box.
