When Vow Breaks Novels & Stories

"You set that up? I'm with Jill now. Whatever stunts you pulled to chase me before, I don't want to see them again." Lillian bit her lip and nodded. "Got it. From now on, I will only see you as my brother." Her tone felt distant. She hadn't called him that in years. Hearing it today sparked an odd irritation in him. "You'd better mean it, or I'll think you're scheming again since you couldn't marry me by breaking your legs." His words hit like a sledgehammer. Lillian froze. Breaking her legs was from her past life, and he knew.

Vanessa’s voice sliced through the silence, sweet yet laced with venom. “I warned you, Ethan,” she said, her eyes sparkling with triumph. “Didn’t I tell you she was unfaithful? But you wouldn’t listen. You defended her.” I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. Ethan’s gaze locked onto mine. What I saw there shattered me. Agony. Disbelief. Betrayal. “How could you, Liana?” His voice was strained, raw, and broken. “How could you betray me like this?” “No!” The word burst from me, filled with desperation and pleading. “Ethan, it’s not what it looks like! Please, just let me explain...”

How could I trust another man so easily? “Why?” I asked again, the question I couldn’t let go of. “Why go through all this trouble for me? You said you don’t want anything in return, you said it’s not charity… but Damian, I have nothing to offer you. I’m just a woman with a broken heart and a bad reputation. Everyone who knows us will talk. They will say all kinds of things. They will say you’re taking pity on me, or that there’s something between us, or that I’m… that I’m with you for money. Ethan will say terrible things too. He will twist this just like he twisted everything else. Are you ready for that?”

Ava's voice trembled, "that marriage, to me, is a sacred and solemn promise. I only want to be married once in my life. To someone who loves me, respects me, and genuinely cares about me." When Jackson was about to say something, Ava gave him no opportunity. "I've already married the person I chose. Even if there may be no love between us, at least... Mr. Maverick respects me." Tears once again ran down Ava's cheeks. "Have you ever respected me, Jackson?" She picked up the documents, gripping them tightly before continuing. "If you have... when exactly did you do that?" Ava tore the documents into pieces without hesitation and threw the scraps directly into Jackson's face.

“Forsake your selfish endeavors! The covenant shall be made to the Coven, not to oneself! The Goddess. The Great Mother. A sacred vow that can never be broken.” The pages are delicate and thin. I carefully turn the page to see what wisdoms await me. A soft knock on the door snaps me out of my thoughts. I quickly hide the book as I hear the lock begin to turn.

As the chamber filled with the murmurs of a kingdom awaiting fate, the last vow hung in the air—an unbreakable bond forged not only by duty but by the fierce, unyielding power of love. The chamber was heavy with silence, thick like the air before a storm. Elara’s heart thundered in her chest as she watched Kael, his eyes still locked on hers, burning with a fierce intensity that both comforted and terrified her. The vow they had just exchanged wasn’t merely words—it was a binding thread that tied their fates together, a promise steeped in power, danger, and a love that dared to defy the darkness creeping around them. Kael’s voice was low, almost a whisper. “This vow… it changes everything. T

I asked him because the term promise has come up quite some times in the past as well. Are vows really that important? “They mean a lot to me.” He answered as he lifted his head up from my shoulder, “Because all my life, all the important people have broken them very badly.” He moved his face closer to me til our foreheads met and I felt that his skin was a lot cooler than mine, “I will not tolerate that anymore.” He backed away a little, “And so, now it’s either you fulfill your vows or I’ll make you.” I felt my headache increase a little more.

She reached up, her fingers sliding into the hair at the nape of his neck, and pulled him back down. The storm finally broke outside, rain lashing against the glass walls of the estate, but inside, the silence was finally gone. It was replaced by the sound of breath, the rustle of clothes, and the terrifying realization that once you break a vow, you can never truly go back to who you were before.

Now, all that remained was an emptiness that no amount of whiskey could drown. A sharp knock on the door snapped him from his thoughts. His assistant, Damon, stepped in, holding an envelope. “She left this for you.” Killian snatched it from him, his fingers tightening around the crisp paper. He hesitated before opening it, his pulse hammering against his ribs. Inside, a single note in her delicate handwriting: I loved you once. But love without trust is nothing. And I refuse to be nothing. His grip trembled, rage and regret intertwining in a suffocating grip around his throat. He had broken her. And in doing so, he had broken himself.

“Then you have to choose.” He stared at her, silent. Then… he stepped toward her. One step, two. Until they were face to face. “I remember you,” he whispered. “Your voice was the last thing I heard before the spiral took me.” Her heart ached. “Then hold on to that.” “I want to,” he said, his hand brushed hers trembling. Then the ground split open beneath them. The spiral roared back to life devouring both of them in an instant. Seraphina screamed, and from the spiral’s edge, a new voice whispered up: “The vow has been broken.”
