When Vow Breaks Novels & Stories

Just truth. I unfolded my own vows. The paper trembled in my hands, but my voice didn’t. “I used to believe love was a promise you kept through perfection.” “But now I know—it’s the vow you honor through truth.” “I vow to be honest. To be bold. To be soft, even when the world tries to harden me.” “I vow to keep growing with you. Not into someone smaller—but into someone fuller, deeper, braver.” “I vow to never forget that we were once broken. Because it makes the wholeness mean more.”

“And it looks like you’re doing that, so…” “You leaving is what hurt me!” I seethe, anger sinking its claws deeper into me at his pathetic justification for his actions. “And I’m not damaged, Callum, I’m broken! You broke me!” My voice cracks, my chest heaving as I shake my head, fresh tears springing to my eyes. My gaze flutters down to the pavement, my voice dropping to barely a whisper. “You broke me in ways that I didn’t even know were possible.” Callum’s throat clicks with a hard swallow, his shoes scuffing against the ground as he steps closer. “Ness…”

"You don't know about the consequences of breaking the vow?" “Consequences of breaking a Vow?.” I shook my head slowly. “I don’t even know anything about the vow you're talking about. So please, just explain.” Larry shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting toward Hector, who was now talking to Sevrin and Leo on the other side of the room. “Maybe you should… talk to Alpha Hector first. He'll explain everything to you.” That answer instantly pushed something furious in me, and I could feel my patience finally snap.

Ivie said. Blackwood opened the folder and placed the single p‌age on the desk for her to see, face up. Ivie re‌ached for‍ the page and stopped an inch above the paper. ‍She looked down. On the top of the page‍, in s‌imple black ink, one word was written. Marriage.‍

The ten‑thousand‑dollar pen trembled in his hand. “Very good.” Vincent took the documents. “As of this moment, the alliance is officially terminated.” Alessandro suddenly spoke. “I finally understand.” Everyone looked at him. “I never appreciated you because I thought you’d always be there.” He looked at me. “I thought no matter what I did, you’d forgive me.” “I thought your love was unconditional. Eternal.” He laughed. But his eyes were full of pain. “I was wrong.” I watched him. Felt nothing.

It was dark, but there was light peeping. “In the presence of God, I make this vow,” I uttered. Like the previous ones, I never saw this one. I married the only man that made my heart ache like this, the only man who can also make the pain disappear. And just like the fate of promises, sometimes they are meant to be broken. I watch the peaceful darkness being lit by the tiny lights of the city. Every grain of light coming from the towering structure seemed to be a memory that slowly peeked into my mind.

"Accept your broken vows? A hollow title? Or a lifetime of pretense in Bloodmoon?" My lips curled. "Ulrik, we both know some things shouldn't be trampled once vowed." His Adam's apple bobbed. "Not a single shred of regret?" His voice was a whisper. "This year… what about us?" "Regret what?" I cut in, tracing the gilded script on the parchment. "There's nothing to regret. From the moment you broke your oath, you meant nothing to me." Recalling his accusations, my tone turned sharp. "Velda claims she's above jealousy, but I won't even waste breath explaining 'above' to her."

Three years ago, Isabella Moretti was the sole heir to the Moretti family, the most powerful of New York's five crime families. She was supposed to inherit the Moretti name and most of the business flowing through New York Harbor. A Mafia shootout changed everything. To save her husband, Matteo De Luca, she deliberately drew the enemy away from him. Matteo got out. But Isabella was shot in the shoulder and captured by the kidnappers. They wanted information about Moretti operations. For three years, they tortured her to get it. She was carrying Matteo's child at the time. She did not know she had already been written off. She kept believing the husband she loved would come for her. The truth

"Oh, did I touch a nerve? How unfortunate." My vow. A vow that was not fully mine, that my father had made, was the only thing holding me back from crushing his skull with my bare hands. It was now connected to Lucianne and her well-being, and for her, I had to control the beast within me. But at that moment, the vow meant nothing. My anger surged forward, and in breaking that promise, I became the very thing I swore I wouldn't.

A vow, whispered not to my parents, not even to Caelan, but to myself and the life within me: Never again. I will never show weakness again. And though the lock held, though the herbs choked the air, though my cheek still burned from her strike, the vow steadied me. It was iron in my blood. The house could bury me in silence, but one day, I would break it.
