Her breath hitched again. Her hands curled into fists, but she didn’t speak. Smart girl.
I sighed with mock disappointment and rubbed my palms together slowly. “Let’s play a game, nurse.”
Her shoulders stiffened.
“Three people are going to be shot tonight,” I said evenly. “Badly. I mean real carnage, baby—bone-deep, no-help-coming type of pain. Network will be cut. No phones. No contact from the outside. Doors locked. No one in or out.”
