While You Were Sleeping Novels & Stories

But before I fell asleep, I heard something, like a whisper, I can barely remember it, something like; “Smile baby. I love you.”

Ashley's POV: I was in the middle of a deep slumber when morning arrived. Unaware of my surroundings, the sound of the door opening and someone entering went unnoticed. Though I heard the faint sound of footsteps echoing on the cold tiles, growing louder until they came to a halt. Suddenly, I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder. I let out a sigh and brushed it off, thinking it was just a figment of my imagination or perhaps part of a dream. "Ma'am, please wake up," a soft, feminine voice whispered gently beside my ear. The words slowly registered in my sleepy mind, and I reluctantly let out a groan in my sleep, still not fully awake. Despite the gentle urging, I remained in the comforting emb

I was so famished, and the food was too sweet. When we were done with eating, and were ready to sleep, we barred the doors, and windows, just to be sure nothing tragic happened while we slept. And funny enough, I thought I'd stay awake for hours, but I didn't. Barely two minutes after hitting the bed, I dozed off. And in my dreams, I was being chased.

-Aria- I did not know for how long but I had slept off while laying lazily on my bed. I yawned and stretched on the bed. Hell no, is this how my life is going to be? Sleeping every day and doing nothing productive? I was not used to it.

"What’s all this?" "Breakfast," I said proudly. "I ordered in while you were sleeping." His lips quirked up in amusement. "And you did all this while I was dead to the world?" I nodded, grinning. "I was about to wake you, but then I got distracted." "Distracted?" He raised an eyebrow. I leaned closer, resting my chin on my palm as I looked at him. "You looked too handsome in your sleep," I admitted. "Like a baby."

I was trying to enjoy my sleep, sinking deeper into the plush mattress. The sheets were like clouds, soft and gentle against my skin. I was having a good dream, one where I reunited with my mother again. We were walking in a beautiful garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers and the warm sunshine. Everything seemed perfect in that dream, but even in the dream, I felt like I was being watched.

Sophia was a good friend, and I was lucky to have her. I wore something light and comfortable as I layed on my bed, I closed my eyes forcing myself to sleep. But for some reason I felt like I was being watched...

The room was quiet and still, and for a moment, I thought I was alone. However, when I opened my eyes, I saw that my whole family was inside the room. The only one missing was my grandmother, Leilani, who I bet wasn’t allowed to leave the house considering the time of the night. Slowly, I got up from the sofa. As I did so, I cast a brief glance at the wall clock and was actually surprised to see that it was past three in the morning, which meant I had slept for a straight two hours. Feeling refreshed despite the short hours of sleep, I felt somewhat relaxed, and as the rollercoaster events of last night rushed into my thoughts, I realized how surreal it felt, as though what had happened was

"What is wrong with you? Why didn't you sleep? You were tossing and turning all night." I pushed myself up on my elbows, my hair a mess, my eyes burning with exhaustion. "I was dreaming," I said, my voice dripping with honeyed sarcasm. "I was dreaming of a life where I’m finally divorced from you. The sheer joy of it kept me awake. It was a beautiful, peaceful hallucination." The irony was clear in my expression.

"Yes." "That's creepy." "I know." "You know what else?" His expression changed. "What?" "I noticed you don't sleep when you're worried." He stared at me. I smiled. "Got you." "I sleep." "No." "Lena." "You were awake last night." His eyes narrowed. "So were you." "Because I was having nightmares." "And I was working." "At two in the morning?" "Yes." I smiled. "You're terrible at lying." His mouth twitched. "Maybe."
