_Author’s POV_ The next morning, Astrid woke up to find both twins acting extremely suspicious. They kept whispering to each other when they thought she wasn’t looking, and Gideon kept showing up at odd times with papers for them to sign. “What are you two planning?” she asked over breakfast. “Nothing,” they said in unison, which was definitely a lie. “We’re just handling pack business,” Zade added. “Very important pack business,” Zarek confirmed.

Her goal: to find Paulo and Pedro amid the storm of emotions that surrounded them. The twins, immersed in their own fury, did not notice Tiffany's approach, nor did they even notice the raven hovering in the skies, witnessing the impressive display of the brothers' brute force. An expression of satisfaction and admiration was drawn on the bird's face, as if it understood the grandeur of the events unfolding below.

“ Meara!” The whispers started again, soft but notable. I tensed, my eyes snapping open. I scanned the field, but there was no one in sight. The sound seemed to come from the tree itself, from the rustling of its leaves. I pressed my palms against the rough bark and closed my eyes, focusing on the whispers. " Come... find... me..." The words were faint but distinct. My heart raced. Was I losing my mind, or was there something more to these whispers? I stood up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and took a few steps back. The whispers grew louder, more insistent.

Her eyes were fixed on my stomach. "What is it?" Chloe whispered. The old woman's face turned white. "They're awake." My heart skipped. "What?" Her voice trembled. "The twins." Kael looked confused. "What are you talking about?" And then— Both of us froze. Because we heard them. Not faintly. Not like before. Perfectly clear. Mommy… Daddy… Our eyes widened. Kael grabbed my hand. And the voices continued. Don't be scared. We're okay. My entire body shook.

I whipped around to Roe and Venus with wide frightened eyes, “The twins” I whispered. My voice broke slightly with the fear warping into my words. We don’t know who these Weres are, or what their intentions are. Do they really mean no harm, or is it just a ploy to get close enough to hurt us. Are they here from me, or for my babies, who knows. I can’t take the risk of waiting to find out. The twins are the most important thing, and I will kill anyone that threatens their lives. Roe nodded back to me in understanding and dashed back into the house. I turned my gaze on Venus, who paused. She looked over at Elaine’s wolf, then out to the gathering fighters, before back to me. She was hesitating

How will she deal with MONTHS? The next time Viatrix looked back, neither of the twins was on her heels. She sniffed the air, but their scents had dispersed. Well fuck, they are probably planning a pincher move or similar. Listening for them did nothing. Their gift allowed them to move silently. They could stomp around this island, and we wouldn’t hear them. They had the advantage; not only could they move silently, but this was their territory while Viatrix and I’d just followed the trail to look for the signs.

Mia agreed with a smile. Beau brushed her hair back over her shoulder and kissed her again, and Mia knew she’d made the best decision of her life, choosing Mr. Whitaker, the younger twin.
