Outside my window, the wind rattled through the trees; a low, mournful sound that almost made me laugh. I leaned closer to the glass, pressing my forehead against the chill. “Goodnight, sweet sister,” I whispered to the dark. “Dream while you can.”

I wanted to look at his face and make sure he wasn't suspicious of my plans. Opening the door, the first thing I noticed was the eerie silence in the house. Marcus was an avid whistler.
