The landscape was alien and foreboding, a surreal amalgamation of shifting shadows and fragmented structures that seemed perpetually on the verge of collapse. They whispered her name in haunting, fragmented tones, urging her deeper into the darkness.

Rowena’s whistling was like a beautiful melody in the dark night. It was not identifiable as a song from a human, rather it sounded natural and pure. The whistling was very distinct from the previous signal and I had no doubt as to what it was. My mind cleared as soon as I heard the signal and all the pain I felt previously seemed to vanish in that instant. I gritted my teeth as I dashed past the trees of the forest.
