The air in the mine shaft, already thick with the smell of damp earth and ozone from Elara’s equipment, suddenly grew heavy, oppressive. It was a pressure change that had nothing to do with geology and everything to do with instinct. The sound that ripped through the oppressive silence was a grotesque violation of nature—a high-pitched, piercing shriek that mimicked the distress of a human infant, yet was distorted, layered with a wet, gurgling undertone that spoke of a throat not designed for such noises. It was a sound engineered to prey on the deepest, most primal fears.

Again the sound of barking dogs reaches my ears only louder as if the barking was coming from right above me. “HEEEEEELLLPPPP” I yell out with as much force as my now sore lungs can muster. “HEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPP MMMEEE” i keep yelling with all i have praying that they find me and help me. Times passes and the barking has now stopped, the only thing I hear is silence, just as I had started to give up hope a small sound of what I think was steal hitting rocks echo’s around me then slowly I start to see sparks of light until it blinds me.

"There are voices of people that linger when their lives are unjustly taken from this earth," Crystal said. "Voices of blood, and people who can't get justice for themselves. These voices belong to the souls of the dead, and the innocent. They can haunt you, torment you, and even try to kill you if they are strong enough. They are like air. They can't be seen. They can't be touched. They can be felt, but mostly through one's hearing. They glide in the air. The strong wind can stop them, and so can fire. Nature doesn't necessarily stop them, but anything too loud for you to hear them can temporarily stop them. And that is why they are called whispers.

he whispered. But he had to get there as fast as he could. Kenny was waiting for him. As he grabbed his keys, a thought ran through his mind. He ran to the wardrobe and opened the bag that belonged to Kenny. He searched through the pockets quickly, pushing aside some documents and small tools. Then, he found the small and special silver whistle. It was the one used to call Kenny's Pet Tiger. The tiger listened only to Kenny and sometimes Zeres, with that whistle. Zeres stared at it for a second, holding it tight in his hand then he blew it twice.

[Elian's P.o.v] Bang. Bang. Bang. The sound of a heavy iron tool hitting rock was the only sound in the Northern Silver Mines. It bounced off the wet stone walls until it felt like the noise was stuck inside my head. I swung the heavy iron tool again. It hit the rock wall and sent a small cloud of gray dust into the air. I breathed it in. It tasted like ash and old metal. I coughed a dry, rough sound from deep in my chest but I did not stop swinging. If you stopped working in the mines, the guards hit you with heavy wooden sticks.

The chill of his touch locks my breath in place. I freeze. Before I can react, he shifts that same finger away and points toward the elevator doors. My brows knit together. I follow his gesture, turning slowly. That’s when I hear it. A whistling sound. Soft. Clear. Perfectly in tune. Someone outside is whistling the exact same song we’re hearing from the speaker. The steel doors stand inches away, dark and still. The whistle continues, close enough to prickle along my skin. At that exact moment, the chime sounds again. The elevator lights flare back on, too bright, too sudden. The cabin jolts, then lurches forward as the lift starts moving.

LYRA’S POV The noise inside the mine was enough to make my ears bleed. It wasn't just the snarling of the rogues anymore. It was the sound of the mountain itself screaming. Every time that thing...the massive, hulking beast that had been hiding in the deep shafts...slammed its fists against the ground, chunks of stone rained down on us.

“To be safe, I would like some more crystals putting out in the woods on the north side of camp. As far as you can manage to the clearing. That way, if things to go wrong I have a better chance. Has anyone got any ideas as to how I could let everyone at camp know if that was the case?” The deep voice came from right behind me. “Dog whistle, maybe.” I hadn’t realised he had got so close, but his mouth was nearly level with my ear and the heat from him sent a shiver through me. I could sense his anger, but I could also tell he was holding it all inside.

i whisper softly "Princess its me" Luke carefully lowers me to my feet and all i do is stare then it hits me and i scream "YOUR NOT REAL, WHY ARE YOU HAUNTING ME, YOUR NEVER REAL, LEAVE ME ALONE. " shaking and crying i go to run out of the cave but before i have taken a step Luke has scooped me up into his arms and is holding me then he pulls me into the corner of the cave and sits with me in his arms and he allows me to cry whilst holding me tight and every now and then he kisses my head. After i have sobbed for god knows how long i look up to see Luke looking down at me

Mrs Wabua walked in double-quick with a chunk of frozen ghee and some fresh herbs which she held close to her bodice "Esther, quickly!" "Alright…" She said trotting behind her with a bowl of clean warm water. Jina eyed her friend enthused by the vigour she had to exercise her old skill which none of her company knew. "Ah, here comes the witch and her daughter. Now I am sure that you will do a great job." Jina fawned over her friend ridiculously in trying to attack Esther but she's misconstrued as being humorous to lighten the atmosphere and the whole group ended in mirth, febrile Mercy inclusive despite the gripping pain in her hip.
