The call connected, and Max’s face instantly filled the screen, his grin wide, hair a little messy, and behind him, Trisha, still wearing her straw hat, waved while chewing on something. “Mommyyyy!” he shouted. “Why is everyone here speaking Russian?! I said, not reading too much meaning into it. “What about Anaya?” I asked, as I hadn’t seen my baby around. “Well, you stayed out too late so I had to put her to sleep,” Ruby explained. “Oh thank you Ruby, for always…” “You don’t need to thank me. Just keep bringing juicy gist for me,” she stated dramatically. “What are you guys talking about?” Max came into the kitchen. I looked at Ruby with a frown. Why didn’t she tell me he was around? “Well don’t blame me,” she stated. “I thought he had gone too.”

“Oh? Then how do you think I’m supposed to talk to you?” Ruby’s heart began to rise once more. It was not because she had a crush on Max, but because she was terrified. She tugged the Max’s shirt and whispered, “He is always that mean, so you had better not to piss him off. He likes to best when people flatter him.” Max then asked Mr. Frey, “I heard that you like people flattering you, right? Sorry, but that’s not something I had do.” Ruby’s hand trembled with nervousness. Then as she predicted Mr. Frey yelled something that could send shivers down every student’s spine, “Call your parents now!”

I felt a surge of disappointment as I realized that I wouldn't be able to speak to Ethan. The guard stepped forward, ready to escort me back to the mansion. However, I wasn't willing to give up so easily. I struggled against the guard's grip, frustration and desperation pushing me to speak. "Why won't you let me see Ethan?
