"Desires can be obtained without a head-to-head war. And that might be possible with..." Ah! He deliberately didn't finish his sentence to bait me. I was stunned for a moment. I forced my brain, which usually spits out strategies, to think. And, "I know, I'll borrow another hand to avoid casualties on our side."

Human strength suddenly increased, and longer lifespans than before made the higher-ranking Vampire unable to pay attention, they began to notice and monitor the growth and see the number of their fellow human beings decreasing, although not as large but with the higher-ranking species as they are, which is not acceptable. The vampire was hunted down by humans, they couldn't do it anymore, so they prayed for peace, people agreed to that because they knew they couldn't kill all of the Vampire and human resources were consumed too much

However, they all seem to appreciate a woman’s touch where it’s needed. I suppose war is always a possibility even in the regular war there is always war being threatened among countries. War is always a threat even when it feels like there isn’t one. However, avoiding war I think is usually the goal of most people. I know it is for us and those in the new alliance. The alliance that no one saw coming, not even those in it.

I stepped closer to him. “Listen here Gavin,” I drawled in a cool tone. “I have avoided war for the last ten plus years. I have defended this pack from rogues, from traitors and even corrupt alphas using neither fear nor force, but with intelligence, wisdom and strategy. I can fight. But I won’t if there is another way.” He said nothing. I turned back to the window. “War leaves scars. On land, on people, and on hearts. I’ve seen enough blood. I won’t spill more unless I have to.”

“But I need a barrier, so humans can't enter our territory ever again.” “Well, you can simply just be the guy…you know…” I pointed my finger at my neck and sliced it. “No! I cannot hurt a human!” “Boring…why you guys just don’t go to war? Wouldn’t it be simpler?” “War is impossible! We’re surrounded by enough pscks of wolves alone, we can’t risk it…” “Oh please," I scoffed, leaning back on the cushion of moss beneath me. "You wolves always want the easiest solutions. It's like watching a child trying to solve a puzzle by eating the pieces."

I’m not sure what his angle is because I’m sure it’s not actually defending humans. Father pounds a heavy fist on the conference table. “They were gifted their lives. That is more than an inch considering what they took from us!” Diego flinches in his chair, and my mother’s face flashes in my mind’s eye. “Am I correct,” I say carefully, “in understanding that our priorities are to avoid war and end the attacks on our people?” Fathers exhales loudly. “Yes.” “Granting the humans’ request would meet those priorities,” I suggest. Diego raises his eyebrows in surprise across from me.

The rest of the rare shifters communities had decided to go into hiding for the sake of protecting their species.
