He was moving as we did, an extra barrier between us and the body. Body. As in deceased. Jesus. Ashton had killed a man in my apartment. And I’d seen the whole thing. I was a Mafia witness. There was a truck parked nearby, the driver's side door was open, but nobody was in it. "Who?" The reply that came shocked him. "Ricardo. He was run over by a truck." "Meet me at the hospital," Antonio ordered, rushing for his car. As he drove, he forced himself to calm down and think rationally. In a way, William was right. One could never be to careful, and Antonio hadn't been careful enough, because he'd never expected Ricardo to be William's next victim. And he knew without a doubt that William was behind this "accident". He was a pro at arranging accidents after all.

Now the truth was a slap, jarring, and vile. "We need to call the police. Now!" The command shot from Wyatt as he stripped away his doctor's coat, the symbol of his composure and control. His car keys clinked, metallic and cold—a call to action. "We can't," William choked out, his face slick with tears. "She's dead. Ended herself after she confessed." Wyatt froze, his hand hovering over the keys. "What?" Disbelief shadowed his features, draining them of color. The room seemed to contract, walls closing in with the weight of unanswerable questions.

If that was fear, then none of them had shown the courage I had. Dad buried William in the backyard as well. Then he carefully cleaned himself up and went straight to the police station. He said he wanted to see me. The police agreed. I watched as he carefully counted every wound on my body. He nodded in satisfaction. "They all match." Then he turned to the officer beside him and said, "I killed them." The officer froze. "I buried them in my backyard," Dad continued calmly. "You might want to check the basement too. The weapons are all there. There are quite a few. I can't remember exactly."

"Or did The Wolf make sure he didn't survive long enough to give us more information?" Santos arrived within the hour. Examined the photo. Ordered an autopsy. Two days later, results came back. Victor Ashford died of acute respiratory failure. Expected with his stage of cancer. But the toxicology report showed something else. Traces of a paralytic agent. Untraceable. Designed to look like natural death. Victor hadn't died of cancer. He'd been murdered. By The Wolf. In a federal hospice. With FBI agents outside. The Wolf could kill anyone, anywhere, anytime.

In lieu of a burial, William’s will had requested that his ashes be laid to rest on Lake Union, which sat in the middle of Seattle. That day when she’d had to scatter William’s ashes over the water had been the hardest of Violet’s life. She hadn’t wanted to part with her husband’s ashes at all. It had been the last part of him she had. Once they were strewn across the lake, that was it. She’d have nothing of her husband left.

I instinctively replied, "Timothy's dead. Agatha killed him." He was stunned when he heard that as well. Since he had been busy with work and had just come out of the meeting room, he hadn't heard the news yet. Agatha killing Timothy with her own hands was truly shocking. Even someone like William couldn't help being surprised when he heard it. He thought he had heard me wrong and thought it was impossible. After all, Agatha loved Timothy with all of her heart. When William returned to his senses and saw how serious I was, he knew it was true. Then, he lamented, "I guess anything is possible when you've lived long enough."

Some rarely-seen birds also hovered around Asford, and some elderly residents believed that this was a sign of impending disaster. One day, the peaceful life of Asford was suddenly disrupted by an unexpected event. A family of three—the Pines—living in the town were killed by an unknown assailant. If it were only a simple murder, then this case would have been written off as a home invasion. However, to the townspeople’s horror, the deranged murderer had disemboweled the victims and removed their internal organs.

Estelle POV “Be careful how you talk to me, boy. I killed my brother and his wife; I can kill you too and get away with it, so keep your mouth shut,” Adolf threatened, standing close to William. Then he walked away from him. Adolf would have never imagined what happened next, as William had suddenly stabbed him in the back with his dagger. I watched as William twisted the knife, plunging it deep into his back. I waited for Shadow to come out to defend his master, but Shadow wasn’t here. Adolf fell to the floor, but William didn’t stop there; he continued stabbing him with rage clear in his eyes.
