And last I check, winter fairies are rare and valuable to the fae race.” I looked at the fairy king and queen as I said this. Making sure that they get my point. “A winter fairy?!” Titania, the fairy queen, asked as murmurs surrounded the room. To say I was in shock was beyond an understatement. A minute later several small creatures came in and immediately put out the fire. They thoroughly cleaned everything up as if it hadn’t happened. I looked at my dad with a questioning face. “There are varying types of fairies. Brownies, sprites, elves, gnomes, pixies, nymphs, selkies. Some have to do tasks or they get assigned to watch over someone as a godmother. They have to accomplish their tasks to move on to the next phase of their existence, some become angels, some fallen fairies are demons,” my dad whispered.

As the lights drew nearer, she could see the outlines of tiny figures inside the glow. The faeries all seemed to be female, no more than six or seven inches tall, with short dark hair. Their lacy, translucent wings were nearly the size of their bodies. The light surrounding them shone in various shades of red, from a deep blood red to an almost pink hue, and it seemed to glow brighter or duller in accordance with the volume of the chirping. “Do they speak?” Leesa asked. “Not in a way that you can understand,” Ariandre replied. “But you can tell from the amount of noise they are making that they’re excited to meet the two of you.”

Since the forest of the Nightwalker Pack was less than a hundred miles away from the Mystic Sisters Coven and the expanded forest reserve we acquired, we moved half the population of gnomes and fairies there, but they are all free to travel back and forth as they choose. Belle, Gale, and Peony are the most active and friendliest fairies we have, and most gossipy too. If their reports are accurate, we might expect Unicorns and Phoenixes to join us soon.
