I rubbed my temples, completely fed up. "You two aren't exactly spring chickens anymore. Why don't you just stay home and relax like normal retirees? "Do you seriously have to follow me everywhere? Just drop it already!" "Not a chance! We'll keep trying until you forgive us!" they said at the same time. Seriously? When was this going to stop? I turned and bolted.

I should have run. She laughs, short and hard. “Oh, the look on your face! You all assume the same thing. No wings, but enough like the dragons to make us illusionists. The qualifications for becoming one of those monster’s soldiers, a hunter. That was the first word that popped into your head, wasn’t it?” She takes a step forward and my wings quiver with the urge to jump back. But hunters have ways to keep those with wings grounded. “Well, you’d be half right.” Her grin grows. “What do you mean?” I ask, my voice a pathetic squeak. “Half right?”

As if he was caught in the flames from a dragon's lungs and there was no escape. The rain that fell did nothing to extinguish them either. Damascus closed his eyes and let the feeling overwhelm his sense. That was until he felt that he was no longer alone. Damascus slowly opened his eyes, and his vision was filled with the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes. Light shown from behind her and cast what looked to be gold wings coming from her back. Damascus had never heard of a golden dragon before. He wondered if the woman who looked like an angel was in fact one. One that had come to take him to his grandmother.

Then got closer to her, “Let me remind you what happens when you let other males touch you.” His voice roars through the club. In seconds, Ozzy and Milo appear, drawn by the shouting. Mama G looks down, her face hollow, broken. Red raising an eyebrow, sharp, “Was I supposed to let her fall on her face? On the cobblestones? In the cold?” Riko seething, “Yes. You should’ve let her fall.” Then finally looked at Red, “Then call me to pick her up.” Raven bows her head, voice flat and empty. “I’m sorry.”

“We could go now… we could leave and never come back. We can dump the kid somewhere and start our own family outside of the Fafner Kingdom…” I shoved away from him with one arm while the other stayed wrapped around my stomach. Tears spilled from my eyes as I fought against the image of horrible things he talked about. He made me feel filthy and wrong as he gripped my arms and tried to pull me closer. Whimpers and weak words of denial escaped me as he trapped my face in his hands, smiling as he tried to kiss me. “Kaliden!” I gasped as Marcus appeared behind him and ripped him off of me, tossing him aside as a growl rang out from Marcus’ chest.

RHEA The door opened and several witches walked in. Morgana was the last person to come in. She was wearing an ankle length red robe. As the leader of the raven witch clan, my mother used to wear a red robe that looked just like the one Morgana was wearing. Seeing Morgana in the red robe, upset me. The rest of the witches who were Morgana's followers, began to hum. The melody had an eerie feeling to it. It made me feel even more uncomfortable and desperate to escape. The witches raised their voices in harmony, as their leader began to draw a pentagram on the floor, using the blood of an animal.

I nod; I guess I'll be learning quite a bit in my time here. "What's the point of the wings when we can levitate ourselves?" I ask her "Levitation is very limited; in your case, it would use less energy than shifting into your wolf to get somewhere faster, but you can only go so high, and it doesn't allow you to move swiftly between opponents in battle. With wings, you can swoop down from great distances, shoot back up, and glide through your opponents. You'll see the difference when you get used to your wings." she says, and I nod.

I said dropping a feather to glide downwards. A murmured growl acknowledged the hit, he apparently already knew. That growl gave me goose bumps. I watched in relief as he walked over by the door to grab the discarded pie bag and spilt coffee cup. Coffee had leaked out and made little tree root designs along the floor. I felt bad about that but he started it. Standing up he looked at me where I was perched. "Well, you are definitely not an Angel, not with those dirty wings, but, you're not simple, I'll give you that." The dig on my wings stung, they weren't the pretty ethereal white of an Angels but resembled melted cookies and cream ice cream.

Ravi slammed the door behind him and was startled to find Adrian floating by the window, his wings flapping, hands folded across his chest, wearing a smug expression. He knew all too well that this creature was the one responsible for the chaos Ravi had just experienced. Ravi quickly moved to the window, fists clenched in anger, a sharp gaze directed at him with disapproval. He opened the window with a loud creak. "You're the problem here."

SERENA My new wings kept beating slowly, lifting me higher above the burning stake. I looked down at the thousands of werewolves on their knees as they bowed to me. "Stay back," Alpha kael growled to his men, but they did not listen. They stayed on the ground. I tried to move my wings on purpose. They responded, sending a gust of wind across the square that made some of the werewolves shiver. I felt power rushing through my veins like fire in my blood.
