Enough. I step closer and the air shifts. The nurse gasps softly as a familiar green flame begins to move from my skin. I inhale deeply, focusing on the burn deep within me. The fire that sent Wendigos fleeing. The flames that rejected their venom. The power that feels like it’s becoming something more. I reach for the warrior’s hand. And unleash it. Flames flood the room - cleansing, defiant, divine… Let the reckoning begin.

The thing kept up until it was easy to tell that it was a person. Wings spread from its back stretching out wide. With one movement it used them to blow the flames towards the warriors that were standing too close. Flames engulfed them in minutes and then they were gone. With another great batting the wings stopped the flames altogether and the thing was all that remained. Elaina watched in horror as it began to move forward taking in the scene around it. A laugh rumbled from it making the hairs on the back of Elaina’s neck stand up.

He studied me and put his hands back down the second my blue flames began licking the skin of my fingers. "I promise the flames won't hurt. I physically can't and won't hurt you in anyway," I gave him a reassuring smile, holding my hands out for him to take. Mordecai hesitated before placing our palms together. The blue flames of my hound jumped onto the tips of his digits and a surge of power ran through me. My mate's eyes grew wide as a swirl of orange flames started to swirl within the blue. His ethereal aura grew brighter as a beautiful set of flaming wings sprouted from behind him. Bruno received several calls from people who knew he was taking flight that day. What Enola was telling him about every disappointment becoming a blessing became so clear to him. “Impossible-” Wings of fire unfurled from Freya’s back, vast and radiant, their feathers forged from golden embers. Her hair streamed upward in currents of molten sunlight. Her eyes burned, not mortal, not borrowed, but as twin cores of dawn. Every line of her body blazed with raw sovereignty, not given, not inherited, claimed. Freya lifted the Sword, her voice rising steady and final above the storm. It was not a scream. It was a vow. “This flame was never yours. It was waiting for me.”

Every other time one of her past selves had died Lawrence s release from the flames and into the Announcer had been simultaneous. What looked like Daniels wings soared through waves of flames, catching fire but not smoldering, as if they were made of fire. All she could make out were white wings and violet eyes. Daniel? The fire rolled across the darkness like a giant wave across an ocean. It crashed onto an invisible shore and washed furiously over Lawrence , rushing up her body, over her head, and far behind her.

They flare on either side of me and when I stand, the points arch to encompass a wide scope of the ground, causing the others to back away in shock. Because I have wings. Wings of fire.

"Don't come in, Serena! This place is about to blow! You guys need to run!" Raiden was still heading out with Celia in his arms, but he paused when he heard my words. He looked back in disbelief at me. All warmth left his eyes, as though he were looking at a stranger. "How am I now realizing you're so sly, Winifred? "The firefighters will be here and can control the flames in half an hour! What will our colleagues think of me now that you're saying this place will blow up? Can't you be a little more considerate like Celia?"

But to them the word sibling didn't really call out to them. Mury laughed getting closer to Mona. "I remember how we came about the name. So much that it still burns right here" she revealed the scar on her arm. That had been caused by her burning herself as a child. She cried at the time unable to compare the pain to anything else in the world but her two flames had an idea to help her with the pain. "You both came up with it as if it had always in my minds. Flames because they hurt like shit but together they create this magic about them. Like right now we're getting warmed by it but we get close we will get burnt. And we burn for each other like flames. Nothing can put us out. Not
