Frustration claws at my chest until my fingers brush against a thick, worn book shoved far back on a lower shelf. The Legend of the Dragon Warriors. I scoff immediately. Dragons. Of course. I almost shove it back. I hate everything that has to do with dragons now. Everything about them reminds me of things I would rather forget, bonds I would rather pretend never existed. But something stops me. Tiny lettering at the very bottom of the spine catches my eye. Blue fire. My pulse stutters. I pull the book out slowly and flip it open. The pages are old. Fragile. The first image nearly knocks the air out of my lungs.

But The Burn turns a Dragon fire against them, making them burn from the inside out. The only way to avoid succumbing to the plague is to not shift, essentially denying us the right to be ourselves. It's easier for adult dragons to fight the urge to shift, but it's way harder for dragons in transition.

Sol sighs and looks at the ceiling for a moment, “Only that you should pay close attention to the colour of the flames you can produce. There are legends, in the book that will help you understand what they might mean.” She groans and nods, “I already burned white hot before, the first time I called flame. Back at the old Guild House, before I was taken the second time.” Sol blinks and nods, “Then keep practising. Control is the main thing to work on. The rest will come with time.” She nods and grabs the book from the coffee table and walks off upstairs, calling over her shoulder as she goes,
