The cold metal pressed against Callie's throat, and something inside her snapped. The fear that had been choking her suddenly transformed into something else. Something hotter. Angrier. "The prophecy begins with your blood, young luna," he whispered, his breath hot against her face. And Callie felt it. That ember deep in her chest, the one she'd been ignoring, the one she'd convinced herself was nothing… suddenly flared to life. Heat rushed through her veins like liquid fire, and her eyes snapped up to meet his mismatched ones.

“The shadow-walker returns. I felt your footsteps in the dark.” “You always were dramatic, Sister Maevra.” “And you always were a bastard.” Of course he knew her. There were so many secrets to this man. He was not wrong when he had told me he had layers. I was interested in peeling them back to find out who I was really attached to. She hobbled closer, dragging a silver-tipped staff that pulsed faintly with old warding magic. Her gaze settled, not on Orion, but on me. “She is the fire. The one the prophecy warned of.”

A silver Luna shawl was draped over my shoulders, and oath-fire blazed against the night sky. However, the ceremony was cut short by a witch's prophecy. "Six years from now, your Alpha will betray you!" Back then, I laughed it off. I believed love was a matter of choice, not fate. Now, on the very day I discovered I was carrying his pup, I found that box at our doorstop, proving his infidelity. Troy's worried voice pulled me back from the memories. "What's wrong, babe? Klev confirmed. "Oh, yes. I hope... I am the princess in the prophecy because there's no one else who should be..." Angel said, smiling. She looked at me and gave me a sweet smile. She's the princess in the prophecy... But why do I possess the power of the crystal? "Let's rest; we need our strength for tomorrow," Havoc said, but I remained in my place. Why is this happening? How can we both possess the power of the crystal when it's supposed to be only one of us? It should be only her... But why do I also possess the power meant only for the princess in the prophecy? And I got it before her...

Her voice shook now too, low and reverent, as though speaking louder might set the prophecy aflame. I tore my gaze from the scroll and looked at her, desperate for answers she wasn’t ready to give. “What does it mean? ‘First Flame’? Why am I written in a prophecy that predates my birth?” My voice sounded foreign to me, thin and tight, like it belonged to someone drowning. “Why does it say I could burn the world down?”

Very close. The battle ended, and though we had won, something still gnawed at me. I felt that pull again. Something in the south—beyond our borders—was calling me. It wasn’t just the hunt. It was her. I took a deep breath, steadying myself. “I’m going south. Stay here and clean up the mess,” I told Collin, my Beta. He gave me a look that was a mix of concern and frustration. “You can’t be serious,” Collin replied, his voice tight. “After all this? You’re just going to wander off? The rogues are still a threat.”

“What does it mean?” She turns to him. “It means the twins are not just heirs. They are anchors.” “Anchors?” I repeat. “To a new era,” she says. “One forged in ruin and reborn through reign.” Lycan Xander’s eyes widen. “The Flame and Betrayal prophecy…” “It is real,” she confirms. “And the war that follows will not be between packs. It will be between fates.” She lifts a finger and points directly at me.

One whose blood is made of flame shall either rise to guard or consume, and the balance shall tremble until the flame finds its master.” I froze. Every instinct in me screamed. She’s the Eternal Flame… But that couldn’t be, right? I flipped further, desperate to find context, to find who the prophecy spoke about and how exactly this Eternal Flame looked like, why it had several stars, and shadows tied into it. But the moment my eyes scanned the next page, the paper ignited.

It can only mean one thing, she is the true Queen that my prophecy speaks of. I shuffle through the pieces of paper on my desk until I find the one that I am looking for. The paper glows brightly in my hands as I watch the Fae symbols transform into a language that I can understand. I read my prophecy in silence before crumpling the paper angrily in my hands. The flicker of the candle on my desk catches my eyes and I know what needs to be done. Lifting the prophecy to the flame my eyes glow brightly as I watch the paper become engulfed in orange flames. I toss the burning prophecy into the cold fireplace behind me and watch until the paper is nothing but ash. I then grab the prophecy
