My eyes widened and I tried to fight, but Dylan deepened the kiss, pushing my subconscious far from the reins of my own body. I screamed as it felt like I was dying, yet every part of me still remained alive. I felt my throat being suffocated as my life got suppressed to the back. And then, the witch took full control. 'No!' I screamed as I helplessly watched Dylan finally break off from the kiss and smile that same eerie smile. He had won. The witch was in charge now. They both threw their heads back and laughed. Hard. The sound was like broken bottles over a band of lunatic cymbals.

I shake my head. “ Mom says he’s promised to Keira.” “We both know that means nothing; she turns 18 in two weeks. What if you are?’ “ I’ll reject him,” I reply with no hesitation. They look at each other. “If you’re his mate, a witch can’t reject a wolf,” Iris responds nervously. “ What?” My heart drops; why can’t I reject him? “ Your mom didn’t tell you? He can reject you, but you can’t reject him. A witch cursed the wolves a couple of centuries ago, so the moon goddess retaliated with her own cure.’ Cassie explains

The air inside was warm, a little heavy with the scent of mint and something faintly sweet. I moved to the living room and sat on the far end of the couch. She didn’t join me right away. She walked over to the window, pulling back the curtain to look out at the dark trees. “You okay?” I asked. “Define ‘okay.’” I waited. She let the curtain fall and turned toward me. “You’re a vampire.” I nodded. She didn’t flinch. “And Sienna’s a witch. And Isaac too?” I nodded again. “Same as me. Just more annoying.”

*Flashback* I stand to the side and watch as the witch sniffs the air and calls Desirey an imposter. The pure joy my dragon and I feel as she makes her drop to her knees. Then she does something strange, she walks up, slips a glove off and touches a finger to Desirey’s forehead. The witch’s head snaps back and her eyes glow even whiter than normal. It’s only a split second but I watch as she removes her hand, says something in her ancient tongue and I see them all blink before she slips that glove on and walks away with Bjorn chasing her like a love sick puppy.

Her body is more lean and thin, but I wouldn’t underestimate her. Not only was the dinner situation unexpected, but my wolf paced restlessly in my mind. Alora, my beautiful reddish-brown furred wolf, mumbled under her breath constantly. She mentioned mates but then acted confused and said they weren’t mates. I definitely felt a pull to both of the strangers, but it was weak. I agree with Alora’s confusion. The guy was a vampire and the woman smelled like a human yet not, code for witch in my senses. There is no way I could been mated to either one of them, never mind both!

She still didn’t have a complete picture but they were starting to feel familiar… Her eyes snapped open at the sound of Sasha’s scream. She saw, in their pale light, a four-armed ice creature towering above him. Sasha had somehow managed to block, with only his Everlite crystal, the creature’s wicked-looking kukri blade that had come down in a chop.

All the wolves looked stunned to see their queen glowing green like a witch. "Mate? Witches will not have mates. He is a wolf. You are a witch. There is no way he will accept you.
