Two female wolves entered, carrying trays of food—warm stew with herbs I’d never tasted, fresh bread still steaming, and a cup of spiced cider.
“Alpha Alex sent these,” one said, her smile easy. “He said you might be hungry after the flight. And...he wanted you to have these.” She held out a small pouch, which I opened to find wolf-tooth beads—smooth, worn, strung on a leather cord. “They’re from his own collection, he said.”
I stared at the beads. Kade had given me diamonds, gowns, things that sparkled but felt like chains. This—something small, personal, something that held meaning—was special. “Thank him for me,” I said.
