Destiny works in strange ways, the witches and the wolves have been enemies for a long time, neither cross each other's boundaries and it is highly forbidden to ever mate with each other. Over the years, witches have been mated to wolves, but once the council finds out, they cast a spell to sever the bond immediately. The spell works, but the victim's life changes completely and he or she becomes an outcast, the spell also weakens his or her original powers causing such a person to become weak.

The coven witches had been trying their best to finally conclude the last piece of the spell required for the ritual the minute Alpha Killian found the gifted one, Thea, but they were unable to. Valerie had no idea what exactly they were doing wrong. But for some reason, the coven of witches were still unable to complete the last piece of the spell. Even the best weavers in the coven couldn't make out the spell. Weavers were witches who had been specially gifted with the ability to create spells. Every witch was born with specific gifts. Some could foretell the future, like Amelie, others could create spells, some were channelers, and a lot more.

Astrid’s POV: My saviour witch, Helena, stood in the center of a circle of candles, each flickering with a different colored flame. With her eyes closed, she chanted in an unfamiliar language, causing the air around her to shimmer and twist as if reality was bending under the immense power of her spell. Suddenly, a burst of energy erupted from the circle, sending a shockwave through the room. When she opened her eyes, a small object materialized in her hand, glowing with an otherworldly light. She smiled, knowing that her little ritual had been successful.

After Claire had had enough of his self-pity, she snapped, “Well?” Jones looked up, and Claire was shocked to see that tears had filled his eyes. He blinked them away and began quietly, “When a witch first starts to show magic, the Priestess of the coven will access their abilities, to help figure out what kind of training is needed, so on.” He smiled softly at Claire, looking nostalgically at his memory of the child he knew. “You first started showing your powers so young, your mom didn’t even believe it at first. She thought it was just sleep deprivation caused by an energetic toddler. How much do you know about magic? Specifically, the magic of witches?”

“You mean it won’t be easy.” She shook her head. “Witches are tricksters. They’re slippery and sly. They can teleport, change their appearance, and even move their entire homes with the snap of a finger. If you make an attempt and fail, the witch will come after you with a vengeance unlike anything you’ve ever seen.” The warning hung heavy in the air. Nathan, who had been silently listening, finally spoke. “So, if we do this, we have to get it right the first time. No room for errors.”
