Savannah grabbed the final lever the biometric lock that required a Sterling bloodline signature. She hesitated. Jackson looked up at her, chest heaving. “Do it.” Savannah slammed the lever down. Every light in the vault flared white. The console died. The countdown vanished. Harrison froze beneath Jackson’s grip. Savannah collapsed to her knees, breath shaking. Jackson released his brother slowly, standing between him and Savannah. “It’s over,” Jackson said. Harrison looked up at him, hatred twisting his features. “No. It’s not. You think love makes you strong? It makes you blind.”

I look around and see one of the young women inching toward me. She can’t tear her eyes away from the sight of the man with wings. “Don’t worry, all.
