The Siren Song Series

The Siren Song Series

Today was the last day. This was the pinnacle of my hell. I had listened to the testimony of witnesses Josh's attorney had called, but in all honesty, I heard them talk but didn't hear any of the actual words. I was so consumed with my own fear of the stand that I mindlessly stared across the courtroom. I shook from my trance when Douglas called me to testify. My eyes met his, and they were encouraging and strong. I took my seat in the chair, the bailiff swore me in, and then the questioning began.

Life of Eve

Life of Eve

"I-I didn't k-k-" "That's it, your honor. Open and shut! No further questions." The prosecutor walked back to her desk to grab a file. "Now I'd like to call a witness of mine to box as well, an eyewitness. Mr Olsen?" One of my odd and weird neighbors walked into the witness box as Arianne walked out. "I do solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." "So Mr Olsen, tell us in detail what happened that day and what you saw."

Heartbreak And Wars

Heartbreak And Wars

Strong opening. "Thank you, Mr. Morrison. But we're just getting started." I caught Blake's eye over his mother's shoulder. He looks fragile, like he might shatter if anyone applies too much pressure. I mouth *you've got this* and he nods, but I'm not sure he believes it. The bailiff calls us back. The prosecution's first witness is about to testify. The real trial begins now.

Your Lips to Mine #3: The Billionaire's Dangerous Muse

Your Lips to Mine #3: The Billionaire's Dangerous Muse

"Mr. Thompson, the records show a direct link between your employment under Mr. Jordan and these transactions. You can’t deny that, can you?" The witness shifted uncomfortably in his chair, his gaze falling to the ground. It was clear that the walls were closing in on him. With every question I asked, his credibility was slowly slipping away. And when I finally sat down, I could see the entire courtroom watching, waiting for the next move.

Then it was my turn. I took the stand slowly, belly making the witness box feel cramped. The courtroom fell silent as I swore on the Bible. The prosecutor wasted no time. “Mrs. Voss — or should I say Miss Harper — did you witness the defendant stab Marcus Hale?” “Yes,” I said clearly. “I saw my husband defend our family from a man who broke into our home with the intent to kill us.” “Objection — leading.” “Sustained.”

The Moon Calls

The Moon Calls

I quickly cleared my throat; I couldn’t help but laugh at how he put it. “Anyway,” Adam brought us back from the side conversation. “The trial begins in an hour or so. Lachlan will stay behind with James to guard the suitcase. Alexander and I must attend the trial alongside you and Gaberiel.” My face fell, “Gabe’s on trial as well?” I turned to Alexander, who nodded his head. “Yes. He is witness to what happened, even if he cannot remember everything.”

Rebirth Of The Forsaken Hybrid

Rebirth Of The Forsaken Hybrid

We will commence the proceedings by hearing the witnesses' testimonies and scrutinizing any evidence on your crime. The trial commenced, and the first witness, whom I've never met before but claimed to be a friend of the victim, stepped to the front of the courtroom to give her testimony. "I was with Meredith that night," she began with a shaky voice. "We had decided to take a walk to the woods. It was something we'd always do under the full moon. But I didn't expect the night was going to remain a tragedy. We were attacked by her." She paused, pointed her fingers at me as she kept shedding crocodile tears.

The Ceo's Dangerous Obsession

The Ceo's Dangerous Obsession

Kimberly said. "Please." "My witness is Mr. Billy Zion, who is a co-worker of my client. And a close friend of the five people who appeared in the video." Teressa's eyes widened at this. Vance was also very surprised, knowing that Billy wanted to be a witness there. Billy could have been a suspect or someone suspected of being a suspect. Susan entered with Billy, who was in a wheelchair. After escorting Billy to the witness stand, Susan walked away. Billy took an oath there. Where all his words are not a lie.

“No further questions.” Serena’s jaw tightened. The rest of the trial moved fast too fast. Every piece of evidence she presented was met with slick counters. Her second witness, a delivery driver who claimed to have been redirected on orders “from above,” recanted halfway through under pressure, saying he may have misremembered. And Cruz? He took the stand like a born actor.

Rannigan's Redemption

Rannigan's Redemption

Glancing up, she said, "The prosecution rests, your honor." For the next two weeks, Michael called witness after witness, each an expert in some field of technology. He dissected witness testimony, maximizing any holes in anyone's story. Maggie watched as more conscientious jurors took copious notes and she watched eyes glaze over on the faces of other jurors who were less fastidious.

This was worth the time to read. Real characters, wonderful story, and yes, some tears. But totally worth it. I will breath to reset my emotions, and read it again to catch the details I missed the first read. it is that good of a story.

It was a breath of fresh air, original, I have not read anything with this plot on this platform, wonderfully written, with the right dose of humour, sarcasm, love and redemption indeed. I loved it big time.
