Lis patted Harry's arm again with that shy smile "Huekkk....!" Kirey pretended to vomit when she heard those words. She then looked at Lis who just chuckle not like looking at her who pretended to vomit. Meanwhile, this time Harry seemed to be holding something in his body. He just looked at Kirey and told the girl to be quiet. After the book Harry had brought with him had been inputted, Harry left his card there. "This is your finished book, don't be late to return it, and don't tell others that I gave you special privileges!" Lis held Harry's hand again as she handed him the book. But Harry immediately took the book and ran wildly from the library.

Uncontrollable Ability: The Academy

"Just in case you do not know, I'm a witch, not like you na ipinanganak na may kakayahang kakaiba. I was born a wizard, at kaya kong mag-manifest ng iba't ibang spells, using my guide. I can only do magic with scrolls, unlike you guys na nasa kamay niyo na ang ability." May mga witch palang nage-exist. "Today, we'll learn different spells, basic spells, to be exact." She paused and took out a stick?????????????? "Rectrio." Saad niya tapos biglang may nag-appear na books sa table namin. It looks ancient. I opened the book, and was shocked that I literally can read the charcters within the book kahit unfamiliar pa ito sa 'kin. "Gago, ano 'to?" Rinig kong saad ni Axie.

The Alpha's Key

The Alpha's Key

Every single information about werewolves were available in the old and dusty texts. He moved on to the next shelf and found texts on witches and wizards, everything from their history to their strengths and natural elements. It was when he reached the end of the shelf that he found a specific book on making and breaking curses. Chuckling in delight, Trav quickly pulled out the volume, causing a cloud of dust to disperse from the tome.

Enchanting Royalty

I had sensed something was off, but I had no idea just how crucial that book was. Sylvia continued, her tone steady despite the implications of her words. “The Book of Enchantments isn’t just any ancient text. It holds the power to destroy the very fabric of the Universe. The spells within it are beyond comprehension, so potent that only the strongest wizards and witches could ever hope to perform them. Kalazar knows this. And that’s why he needs it.”

Omega (Book 1)

Omega (Book 1)

Trisha heard Mrs Perry complain as she glided through shelves teemed with ages-old books before she could be pulled into hours-long conversation with the old lady. She picked up a book from a dilapidated shelf, blew off the dust that had found solace on it's leather covering over the years, and squinted— because of the poor illumination, to see the books name. ‘Wizards Can Do More’ by one of the greatest wizards ever, LP Travis. It was a book she wanted but not one she needed. Hence, she put it back in its spot among other dusty books and walked to another shelf.

Kings & Queens (Book 3 Vampire Witch Trilogy)

Kings & Queens (Book 3 Vampire Witch Trilogy)

Abigail said as she sank down onto a chair with a defeated expression. “We’ll be the victors in this, “I assured her. “I just need to do a little prep work before we go into battle.” “Understood,” she nodded. “What do I do?” “Rest,” I said. “You’ll need it.” She draped her body over the chair and swung her legs absent mindedly while she watched me pour over the pages of the grimoire. With my strength returned to me and my magic intact, I speed read the entire eight-hundred-page ancient book -with one-hundred percent retention- within a matter of minutes.

, I state. The witch looks up at me, feeling slightly uncomfortable as I feel her look through my mind. Not long after, it pushed her out. She glares at me, which releases in me, shrugging my shoulders; she lets out a sigh before disappearing. Scanning the room, I noticed something moving, so I headed towards it; it’s a baby rosy boa, they’re one of the few viviparous, so they give birth and not lay eggs. Gently petting its head as I walk back to the seat, the baby boa curls up around my neck to get the heat that’s coming from my body; the witch comes back with two books. Raising an eyebrow, she passes the books over and then starts explaining. “The first book is about Reda Bahar Phoenix lik

but with spells instead of fingerprints.

For a classic, 'The Dresden Files' by Jim Butcher is the obvious rec. It's a wizard PI in Chicago, and the early books, like 'Storm Front', are straight-up noir mysteries where the magic just happens to be real. The way he investigates is super tactile, using little thaumaturgy tracking spells.

A different, cozier vibe is 'Rivers of London' by Ben Aaronovitch. A London cop discovers magic exists and gets assigned to the magical crimes unit. The police procedural element is strong, and the magic has a very scholarly, almost historical ruleset that makes solving the mysteries feel like real detective work. It's less fireballs, more research in a dusty library.
