Beneath the Wolf Moon
The forest explodes around us.
They come out of the shadows in blurs of motion. Not animals. Not trained wolves either. Rogues. Their movements are jerky, hungry, and desperate, but fast too fast. Five of them. Surrounding us before I even take a full breath.
Jaxon’s growl rips through the night, a sound that makes the hair rise on the back of my neck. Half human, half wolf, all Alpha. “Stay behind me.”
My instincts scream to listen. To obey. But stubbornness surges hotter. I grab a fallen branch, wrapping both hands around it like it’s a sword.
