Wolf Pack C. J. Box Novels & Stories

Without thinking about his actions he held her hand tight and pulled her to his chest, hugging her tight as she finally cried. “Do- Domi-nic Hale’s grandfather was a hunter.” Skye started while hiccupping and sobbing, whilst clutching onto the Alpha and Hakan felt his whole body freeze and his blood run cold when he heard the words following her sentence, “a Legacy Wolf hunter.”

"Turn? What are you saying?" "Ah, so that boyfriend you are with tonight is keeping you in the dark. Figures, since you are not marked. He must not be serious about you. Born wolf shifters may not continue forever, but science will ensure that they do." A small box in his hand revealed a syringe, filled with a glowing, blue liquid. "Now, let us not make this difficult," he said, voice soft but his eyes were reflective, the eyes of a wolf. They lunged at the same time; her towards the box and he towards her. She screamed when he grazed her arm, just out of reach. Using an old desk as a barrier, she managed to get behind it and hold an old candleholder out in front of her.

He limped as he walked. I'm not here to fight, he said. His voice was rough. Tired. Then why are you here? The wolf looked at the valley. At the cabins. At the smoke rising from the communal fire. I heard there was a new pack, he said. A pack where turned wolves don't burn. Where born wolves don't rule. Where a woman with red eyes binds the dead to her soul. Luan's jaw tightened. Who told you that? The wolf sat down on the far bank. His injured leg stuck out at a bad angle.

As I lace up my running shoes, the call of the pack territory beckons, and I run to make sure the patrol is in place. I am Xander Coleman, the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack, a pack renowned for its size and strength, standing as one of the largest in the country. At the young age of 20, I stepped into my father’s shoes, taking on the responsibility of leading this pack. With over 5560 wolves under our banner and growing, the challenges are both invigorating and unrelenting. Growing up in this expansive pack, I gained insight into the complexities my father faced as its leader.

Either way this is going to be intense. As Jinx’s paws pad along the smooth surface of the path, a movement catches my eye, alerting me to a sandy coloured wolf approaching at speed. Jinx runs at him, mouth ready to attack before he attacks us. Jinx sinks his teeth deep into the flank of the wolf, as he jumps at him, breaking through the flesh easily. A whimper from the wolf tells me he is unlikely to be getting back up anytime soon, but Jinx moves to his neck and clamps down, jerking awkwardly to snap it, ensuring another of our enemy was ended.

Dakota asks. “That is a piece of my shirt that was ripped in a struggle and those are my shackles.” I signal with a head tilt. My things are nestled underneath the dismembered hands of the two unknown Lunas. If someone hadn't taken a closer look I probably wouldn’t have noticed them either, even with my sense of smell. My scent is all over the packhouse, so it wouldn’t have registered right away that my scent is also in the box. I take another breath and look at Jena. I haven't touched the box and I won’t, I will not spiral again because of Mike, he can’t have my thoughts anymore. My wolf and I just keep repeating the mantra. “Are you okay?” I ask her like we are the only people in th

Jax was howling in my head, sensing something was wrong. She walked over to her dresser and picked up the box. I saw a small smile on her face as she opened the box. My heart tightened up at the sight. She sat there for a few minutes, going through the contents of the box. Once she finished, she placed the box back into the closet. She looked around her empty room, and I could feel her saddness. "Little Wolf, if you are not ready to leave home, I could give you as long as you need." I said to her as I placed the duffle bags back onto the bed. She turned her head to me and gave me a puzzling look.

Growing up We were told stories of strong werewolf packs up and down the East Coast. We were told about the legendary alphas who led those packs in the Were War. We were told scary stories of what those alphas would do to us if we got out of line. No one in the small pack where we are from grew up ever doubting the validity of Cullen Steiner the alpha of the Good Ole Boys Pack in SouthWest Georgia. He was known for his deed name Baptized by Fire.

I was rooting for him and Alex all of a sudden because they were the only important people in my life here. A female wolf came to Alex's side and tried to tend to his wounds to ease his pain. She put some liquid from her mouth on the wound to probably stop the wounded area from getting infected, Alex winced in pain. His body was open as he had only a part of his shorts on, just enough to cover his private area. I stared at his build for a while and walked closer to him to stay. The wolf stared at me with those intense eyes of hers, they were so beautiful. Why would anyone want to hurt such beautiful creatures? I raised my hand in surrender, showing that I had no weapons of any sort and I was

113 Laurann Dohner Jessie twisted the locks as her heart raced and she smiled, excited to see him after the night before. Two large Species males stood there instead. Both of them were out of uniform, sporting jeans and T-shirts and they stared at her with a grimness that assured they weren’t happy. The one on the right spoke. “I’m Night. Your belongings were delivered and we were asked to bring them. Do you mind if we unload the Jeep now and carry your boxes inside? We have to inform you that your things were searched by security.
