“It’s okay, wolf. I won’t tell him that you carried me. Make sure you shower off my scent. I won’t let him hurt you, but you have to get my scent off of you.”
The wolf is running fast, and I’m startled when he lifts his head, howling his return to the pack. Where are we?
“Hold on, Mom. We’re almost there,” the boy says.
When I see the hospital, I begin fighting to get away.
“No! No, I don’t want to go in there. I didn’t mean to fall asleep! I didn’t mean to. Please don’t make me go back in there. Please don’t make me go.”
