Zoe expected the apology to come sooner, but Wolf was just listening to a song. But it turned out that Wolf was just listening to a song. "The password is---" the voice starts but Kade cuts him off. "Wrong," he says coldly. Then everything happens at once. The door explodes inward with so much force that it flies off its hinges completely. Wood splinters everywhere and I throw my arms up to protect my face from the debris. Three wolves storm into the room and I immediately recognize their scent. Silverfang. The one in front is wearing the tattered remains of one of our sentry uniforms but his eyes are wild and feral and definitely not one of ours. Behind him are two more wolves already shifted into their animal forms, snarling and snapping their jaws.

Lana's gasp of terror could be heard as she looked out the window, Maddie's cries still audible over the sound of my snarling and the rogues' growling as they closed in. "Maddie go in your bedroom, sweetheart," Lana called softy, and the shake in her voice gave me all the motivation I needed to lunge forward, taking down the biggest wolf with me. The wolves around us howled and yipped in excitement as our teeth and claws collided. They weren't prepared for the kind of fight I was willing to give to protect my family. I latched my teeth down, getting a hold of his throat as he kicked and bucked to get me to release my jaw.

Faces that appeared and disappeared. It was singing. The howl had been the start of a song, and now the full melody rang out across the settlement. Beautiful. Haunting. Wrong. Wolves on the wall started swaying. Their eyes went distant, unfocused. “Cover your ears!” Cassandra shouted. “It’s compulsion! The song is compulsion magic!” Too late for some. Three wolves dropped their weapons and started walking toward the creature. Slow. Dreamlike. Smiling. Gregor grabbed one and dragged him back. “Snap out of it!”

Simon flipped the page. “Wolves developed the Howl Array—a sonic weapon that destabilized vampire neural networks. It caused disorientation, memory loss, even seizures. The vampires responded by creating suppression serums that disrupted bonding hormones and short-circuited Alpha scent recognition. It broke mating cycles. It unhinged heat. Entire wolf units lost their cohesion. And still, it escalated.”

Adalwolf It was dark and I was alone this time . But in a way, I could scent her . She was close . I tried to look for her but as her scent drew closer, I saw nothing again . I could feel the deep loneliness . My wolf howled in sorrow . She left me . My other half . My anchor . Then another female wolf came . She was different . Her fur was black with splotches of white . I recognized her but I still could not bring the name to mind .

As the fight got more intense, the two werewolves shifted, so that where two men were fighting before, there was a very large grey wolf, Thomas, and a slightly smaller black wolf, Jonas. The wolves circled each other, the grey one’s eyes full of wisdom, experience, and anger. In the black wolf’s eyes were a knowing look … and triumph, which was weird because it was being beaten hands down. Several bones in its body had been broken and it was favoring its right front leg, whereas the other wolf was very much unhurt. The fact that the black wolf was being beaten did not seem to faze it, though. Its eyes kept darting around, as though searching for something, so the pack members thought that it
