The toe tag hung from the edge, swaying slowly, back and forth - a pendulum marking time. I didn't remember walking back to Damian's room. My mind was a blur of static and silence. The hospital felt different now - like it was holding its breath. Even the lights flickered softer, as if afraid to draw attention. I sat beside his bed and laced my fingers through his, the way I used to when he'd work late nights and forget to sleep. "They think this is over," I whispered. "But they're wrong." “This is the master bedroom.” Beatrice entered the room. It was a typical elegant room. There was a king-sized bed in the middle. A small living room just in front of the big window going through the terrace. She noticed two doors on the side. She saw a small bookshelf too that had some books. And this room was much bigger than her old room in their house.

The door was unlocked. They slowly walked in. "Damien?" Ashleigh called. No answer. The house was dark but ironically didn't smell dusty. It actually smelt like it was just give a hot bath. "You go check upstairs," Jonathan instructed. Ashleigh nodded and went to the stairs. She slowly climbed up looking around. She looked to her left, then to her right. The master bedroom's door was opened. She slowly walked in. The large bed was neatly done but on one side lay a few empty bottles of medication. Then she took notice of the ginger hair.

Eventually, as the room ceased to be filled with my gasps, I dared to look up. Realizing that I was in a bedroom, I rose unsteadily to my feet and distanced myself from the door. The room was expansive, featuring a king-size bed in the center with nightstands on either side. A bench sat at the foot of the bed, beckoning me closer. I approached it and pressed my hand into the plush cushions.

On either side of the bed are matching nightstands, each topped with elegant lamps that cast a warm, inviting glow. A cozy reading nook is set up in one corner, complete with a plush armchair and a small side table - perfect for quiet moments with a book.

RACHEL I stared at the side of the bed I believed to be mine because the one nearest to the window had a massive sign on the wall near it with the initials B.M. I couldn't tell what B.M. means. Maybe it was the name of my roommate, or it meant something else. Right now, I couldn't care. It was the state of my bed that stunned me into silence. I blinked rapidly, hoping I was seeing things. Hesitantly, I moved to the bed to assess the damage.
