How much we loved.” Alexander smiled. Kissed her forehead. “Then write it,” he said. “I’ll be right here. Every page.” She nodded. The next morning she started. Theo’s old laptop. A blank document. Fingers on the keys. She wrote about the bar. The rain. The stranger who looked at her like she was the only person in the room. She wrote about the envelope. The loneliness. The positive test. The nights she cried herself to sleep. She wrote about the interview. The shock. The fear. The slow, careful trust that grew between them.

I wished I could reach back and tell her— You’re not an extra. You’re not an offering. You’re not a sentence someone else handed you. You’re a story.
